Wilco @ Lollapalooza (more by Zach Dilgard)
Wilco

Wilco have launched an innovative initiative through their website designed to promote carpooling to and from Wilco concerts across the U.S. The microsite, dubbed "Passenger Side" (after the 1994 Wilco song from the band's debut recording AM) is accessible through the band's official website wilcoworld.net and matches registered "drivers" with registered "riders" based on starting locations and show destination.

Wilco killed it at Tanglewood last night. Best I've seen from them in at least 3 years. Hope they're as good for you all in bklyn.

Doors open at 5. What time does the opener come on?

Posted by MyLife | August 13, 2008 11:13 AM

Anybody got set times for tonight?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:14 AM

opener at 6:30...would imagine wilco's on around 7:45 or shortly thereafter.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:14 AM

Thanks 10:58, I hope so too!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:17 AM

what self righteous cunts.

make a good album again before grandstanding.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:19 AM

What the hell, 11:19? I totally agree that Sky Blue Sky is just barely above the level of "sucking." But there's nothing self-righteous about the band trying to help fans hook up for rides. Chill out, man.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:48 AM

couldn't get tickets...so throwing a boat party instead...see you suckers...this band peaked years ago...

Posted by josef | August 13, 2008 11:48 AM

"couldn't get tickets...so throwing a boat party instead...see you suckers...this band peaked years ago..."

And yet, you still tried to get tickets...

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:53 AM

"Sky Blue Sky is just barely above the level of "sucking."

really?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:00 PM

wilco at 7?????

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:02 PM

They have to be done by 10pm, right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:02 PM

I thought Sky Blue was sort of fine.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:05 PM

Yeah, Ween started jus after 7 a couple weeks ago. I guess it's due to the curfew. End early, start early.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:06 PM

Tonight is going to be a night to remember.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:07 PM

Even though I would rather see a 3 hour Wilco show than a 2 hour Wilco show, I was hoping the 7pm start time thing wasn't true, but I just found out it is.

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 13, 2008 12:12 PM

12:07.....reminds me of "Porky's"! Great flick.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:15 PM

I (heart) carPOO-ing to Wilco shows!

Posted by greg | August 13, 2008 12:18 PM

I can't seem to scare up a ride for tonight's show. Any chance Tweedy could swing by my pad and give me a lift?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:19 PM

More tickets just dropped on TM. Got 2!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:20 PM

On Jennifer O'connor's (the opener) myspace it says the show is at 7. So Wilco probably won't be on until closer to 8.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:22 PM

Haven't been to a (paid) pool show this year. Are they selling food inside the pool? thanks

Posted by hungry | August 13, 2008 12:30 PM

Really wish I knew what time they were getting on stage...not trying to leave the bar to sit in McCarren Pool for an hour before Wilco comes on.

Posted by drugs delaney | August 13, 2008 12:30 PM

I ate empanadas there at Ween.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:34 PM

wilco are the most important band of the past decade, hands down. that other utterly overrated act, radioyawn, don't hold a candle to wilco.

Posted by thom yorke | August 13, 2008 12:37 PM

wilco peaked with YHF...sorry to break the news.

while the addition of nels cline was a genius move (and they do sound amazing together), 1/2 of ghost is born is shit, and most of sky blue is smegma.

they seem to bask in the fact that they are now a 'live show band' and im sure they make most of their money that way but their ability to make good albums going forward is questionable.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:42 PM

best and/or closest bar to the pool entrance??

Posted by heavy metal drummer | August 13, 2008 12:43 PM

The sound was incredible last night at Tanglewood, I am not sure the pool will come ever close to that tonight but we shall see

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:45 PM

for bar, i hit up Pete's Candy Store. It's a nice night, sit out back.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:46 PM

Are the lines for ticketed concerts anything like Pool Parties? I really don't want to stand around for 2hrs

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:48 PM

As far as the sound at the pool goes, that bounce off the opposite/back wall is dreadful!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:50 PM

Phonograph and Salt & Samovar play Union Pool after tonight's Wilco show. $8 at the door. $5 with a Wilco ticket stub. Show starts at 10:15 p.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:51 PM

can you stand at the fence and watch or do they block it off for the pay shows?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:57 PM

Tickets on ticketmaster now for Wilco! Ha ha scalpers eat your tickets!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 12:58 PM

Some carpooler's gonna get raped and Wilco's gonna get sued.

Posted by Jacoby & Meyers | August 13, 2008 1:02 PM

Or someone's going to get pulled over in a car full of contraband unbeknownst to them and go away for awhile.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 1:13 PM

Or someone is going to fart in the car with the windows up.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 1:18 PM

got two

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 1:21 PM

Tickets are back on on Ticketmaster if anyone needs...

Posted by Scotty C | August 13, 2008 1:32 PM

1:18...the ol' mobile dutch oven, eh?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 1:36 PM

Wilco tickets still available on ticketmaster for todays show

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 1:38 PM

so is the consensus that the opener will start at 7? It doesn't seem possible that Wilco would start at 7, that means the opener would have to start before 6.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:06 PM

if there's a 10p curfew, it doesn't make sense that Wilco would start past 7:30 as they always play 2+ hrs. BV confirms the 7p start time at 12:12

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:17 PM

tickets say doors at 5. ticketmaster says show at 6:30. i'm assuming jennifer o'connor at 6:30 and wilco at 7:30.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:17 PM

Are standard digital cameras (without crazy zooms) permitted?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:33 PM

didn't think ween was going to start so early either, but they did.
if it's really that important to you get there bye seven...that's probably right around when they're going to start.
better to be there a little early (and see the opener) than show up late and miss even one note of nels' sweet sweet jazz chops.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:35 PM

could we have some new songs tweedy?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 2:56 PM

There is no way that they go on at 7 if the opening act is at 6:30. Earliest would be 7:15. If they are playing a 2 1/2 hr set i would say 7:30...anything earlier is TOO EARLY.

I wish someone could confirm something...not just speculate.

Posted by BitShag | August 13, 2008 3:28 PM

they already played while you guys were talking about it. it was mediocre. you can go home now.

bye!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 3:38 PM

Attempted vehicular manslaughter... whatever the FUCK that means!

Posted by Cliff | August 13, 2008 3:49 PM

>> I wish someone could confirm something...not just speculate.

Beastie Boys and Ween both went on at 7p. I would make sure you're inside at 7p.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 4:08 PM

7 is great news, what you suckas talking 'bout? 3 hours of Wilco v. 2.5 hours of Wilco? Nil brainer....

Posted by Tito | August 13, 2008 4:17 PM

Wilco is on at 7:10.

Posted by booyahachieved | August 13, 2008 4:27 PM

5:00 PM - DOORS
6:00-6:40PM - JENNIFER O'CONNER

7:10 PM - WILCO

10:00PM - CURFEW

That's direct confirmation from Nonesuch Records.

Posted by booyahachieved | August 13, 2008 4:34 PM

Just in case anyone still cares, Wilco came on at 7:35. Off at 9:55.

Awesome show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 10:35 PM

Great show! Highlight was the clapping issues during Spiders (Kidsmoke). "Leave it to Brooklyn"

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:20 PM

mind, blown

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:32 PM

that horn section was fucking dominant.

Posted by butternuts | August 13, 2008 11:43 PM

highlight for me was kingpin. Amazing amazing amazing.

Posted by anon | August 13, 2008 11:46 PM

thanks for the lift, jeff!

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2008 11:46 PM

ah, good times in the pool.
