Terminal 5 has an early curfew, so you'll be fine.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 2:57 PM
bah! they should co-headline MHOW with grizzly bear, since that's where i'll be.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 2:59 PM
Wonder what the scene will be like? I don't feel like going and getting turned away. But there is also Black Angels/Metric at Highline and 50,000 idiots stuck on a ferry, so maybe it won't be packed.

awesome!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:02 PM
ooooooooooooohhh...tonite, not tomorrow...duuuuuuuuuude...almost missed that one...i'm there!
Posted by Sir 2:59 | August 8, 2008 3:04 PM
This probably won't be that packed, not with APW, Stooges, Metric, and Hercules & Love Affair. Plus, this is really last minute and 21+ keeps out the kids. I'm kind of surprised this isn't at a Todd P venue, actually. His feelings must be hurt.

iggy curfew is midnight - you can make it.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:07 PM
DEERHUNTER and ELK CITY should be enemies right?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:09 PM
For all the slagging on this blog, THIS kind of immediate insider information makes it worthwhile.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:17 PM
It looks like two separate shows on the Mercury website. Presumably if you pay to get into the Elk City show you can stay for Deerhunter?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:38 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:42 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:56 PM
i'd hit it. hard. real hard.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:02 PM
I call same person on 3:56 and 4:02
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:06 PM
wrong, 4:06, though that would be funnier.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:11 PM
would anyone hit 4:06
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:13 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:22 PM
I'd totally donkey punch it...maybe followed by a dirty sanchez but that depends on my mood.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:32 PM
will bradford be there? wonder if trent got his throat ailment from waxing bradfords pole?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:51 PM
Are there openers for the Stooges? Can't seem to find this information out?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:10 PM
Hmm...this is a cool night, Elk City, Audio Fiction and Deerhunter for $10?!?

All you people asking if the other show you'll be going to tonight will be over in time to catch Deerhunter: What makes you think Deerhunter won't be sold out by the time you get to Mercury?
Posted by Bambi's mom | August 8, 2008 6:06 PM
I hate these f*cking boards, but I am addicted to reading them.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:10 PM
Mercury is not selling tickets to Deerhunter according to their website. It will be a clusterfuck. Basically its going to be one long line down Houston waiting to get in, and a lot of wanna-be's trying to scam their way to the front and in with "I know such and such".
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:23 PM
you mean there will be a line to purchase tix at the door? it's called first come, first serve. how else do you propose they admit people?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:27 PM
i think an open rsvp system is a good idea. what could possibly go wrong with that?
Posted by JellyNYC Boadrum '07 Event Planner | August 8, 2008 6:31 PM
Will call tickets by phone would be a lot more reasonable. The scene outside the Merc tonight is going to be a clusterfuck.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:40 PM
do you want to go or not?
Posted by Reality | August 8, 2008 7:06 PM
I just walked by and the line is already up to Santo's Party House.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 9:57 PM
total bullshit. I'm at the mercury right now. No line at all out front. The bands from the early show are still playing. Wish it the show was at santo's though. That place rules.

w/ regards to the quality of bv-- I mean YES there are great insider scoops, day-of stuff, but at the same time, it's really difficult to ask meaningful questions in the comments because, fact:
people lie so fucking much
-- APW today wasn't hard to get into, despite all the idiots saying it would be horrible, and radiohead were amazing (i'm not a huge radiohead fanboy, for the skeptics). I live near merc lounge-- there is no line, there was no line 30 minutes (read: 20 minutes before deerhunter), I'm just too fucking tired to go to another show tonight. Hell, Bradford was chilling outside, I said hi to him even though I think Cryptograms is just ok. Weird looking fucker.

oh and for the record: Santos blows Mercury Lounge out of the water. Living 3 blox from Merc Lounge, I wish they would book quality acts, I wish so fucking badly....everytime I pass by I yell "BOOK SOMEONE GOOD" to the idiot employee perpetually sitting on his little fuckignstool having a fag. Honestly I moved to the LES 6 months ago and Deerhunter is the best band they've booked. Just....shit.
Santos is a good time, I'm not really sure why it's a joke on BV? I guess all you brooklyn fucks can't handle a manhattan venue that's actually doing a better job @ booking & throwing a good party than Studio B...
Posted by anon 1259 | August 9, 2008 1:04 AM
People don't lie nearly as much as people act like privileged elitist fuckheads.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 1:29 AM
Holy fucking shit that was loud.
Posted by Deaf person | August 9, 2008 2:09 AM
^^^and not that good
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 2:47 AM
Yo deaf person, I was just gonna say the same thing. I forgot my earplugs and now my ears are ringing. Damn you, Bradford!
Posted by Aaron | August 9, 2008 2:51 AM
setlist for the show?
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 3:04 AM
Actuallly, I was surprised that the band before them, Audio Fiction we pretty rockin'...overall...a solid night of music
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 4:10 AM
ELK CITY were AMAZING!
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 12:06 PM
the deerhunter show was awesome. thanks for the heads up.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 5:46 PM
"Honestly I moved to the LES 6 months ago and Deerhunter is the best band they've booked."
This is satire done right, folks.
Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2008 9:19 AM
totally blown away by elk city. so good. the silent league was great too. audio fiction, um... not so much.
Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2008 3:02 PM
Interesting last comment....perhaps from one of the die hard fans or a band member?!?
I was there for the 2 bands before Deerhunter, and unless you were deaf and blind, Audio Fiction had a big crowd that reacted way more enthusiastically to every song than the other acts I saw before DH.
Don’t get me wrong, the other acts were good too, just different acts, all with their own sound.
