bradford isn't very nice. when I met him he just talked shit the whole time

:(

was bummed

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 3:37 PM

could you describe the shit-talking?

Posted by Anthony Michael Hall | August 7, 2008 3:48 PM

please do tell

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 3:50 PM

about other bands, people he'd met, promoters, just general trash in any direction the wind blew

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 3:52 PM

...sounds like a dick

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 3:54 PM

silly pose (pic)

I cringe at that silly "freak out" posturing.

baby.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 3:56 PM

he hasnt talked shit to me. when do bowery tickets go on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:01 PM

saw him walking around at the king khan show on monday...i really dig his latest stuff...

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:01 PM

do bloggers get a financial kickback everytime this clown gets mentioned?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:01 PM

Am I the only one that likes Times New Viking?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:15 PM

no. times new viking is amazing. one of the best bands i have seen and heard in awhile.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:21 PM

it isn't clear to me what bradford cox or jay reatard or whoever the fuck owes any of you. indie rock stars are not public servants--they do not owe whatever success they may have to your largesse.

bradford cox creates things and is rewarded--one hopes--to the extent that the market enjoys what he makes.

putting out a record is not an invitation to be buddies.

assuming that most of you are grown men and women, adults, it is pretty pathetic that you could be bummed by someone your own age being dick--i meet assholes all the time and it is no more saddening of the person happens to get mentioned on pitchfork.

this celebrity-obsessed culture sucks--and there seems to be no respite from it, not even in the ostensible undgerground.

I saw bradford at the seaport after the show and he seemed very nice to his fans. He came to the front after the show and talked to everyone who was waiting for him, even taking pictures with people. just thought i'd chime in with that.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:29 PM

I think it's awesome the way he makes himself available to anyone and everyone who wants to speak to him. As was said before, he does not have to do this.

Also, assertions that he's a dick are completely false; he's the most down-to-earth musician I've ever met.

4:24 your reading comprehension is terrible. There was no mention of anyone feeling they were owed anything.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:40 PM

i can third that, bradford cox is not a jerk, i believe that your story is a fabrication.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:42 PM

"...sounds like a dick"

More precisely, sounds like a BV commenter.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:43 PM

I have met Bradford a number of times and he has been nothing but nice and gracious. My guess is Anon 3:37pm smelled like hot garbage and Bradford said negative things to get the idiot away from him.

Bradford Cox killed my dog in a fit of rage. He was all coked up on $55 worth of blow, helped the cops beat up some guy in front of MIA's apartment, and then screamed at a blogger who didn't mention him enough. My dog smelled something rancid in a shed at the Pool, but Brad killed him before the dog could report the crime.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 4:55 PM

TNV kills it everytime - excellent.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 5:09 PM

bradford is the fucking man
microcastle is album of the year
ill be honest, i'm a total fanboy, but hes such a nice guy he took time out to talk to all his fans at that market hotel show

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 5:11 PM

seems like a toxic personality

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 5:36 PM

dick

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 5:38 PM

i really want a jazzmaster. but only in surf green. who's got my jazzmaster?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 5:39 PM

have to agree with 4:24 in the sense that I don't know why anyone (other than the person to whom he might not have been nice to?) would care whether a particular performer wasn't "very nice" . I fail to see the public interest in that, esp it's merely general shit-talking which is pretty innocuous (as opposed to, I don't know, doing all your coke and then fucking your gf/bf)

Of course, if the criteria for posting on music blog boards eliminated mindless chatter, there'd be nothing to read in these sections.

Posted by pjx | August 7, 2008 5:49 PM

I think everyone probably has bad days when they are in a foul mood and talk shit but i met him after his show in toronto and he was extremely nice and remarkably humble. and he was funny as shit to boot. i can say that from experience but i also agree that music is more important than celebrity and that even if he were a dick i'd still like his records.

Posted by anonymous | August 7, 2008 6:52 PM

I met him at the Malkmus show at Bowery and he was super nice and down to earth.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2008 8:34 PM

I've heard from my friend he's really cocky

Posted by Sam Vander | August 7, 2008 10:10 PM

I can't speak for their every action.

But i will say that deerhunter played the place i work in norfolk a week ago, and every single member was outstandingly nice, polite, sincere and friendly. Everyone I talked to, fans and staff and owners, who spoke with any of them, all mentioned separately how astoundingly nice and genuine they all were.

Posted by james | August 7, 2008 11:35 PM

"about other bands, people he'd met, promoters, just general trash in any direction the wind blew"

umm...so...normal stuff everyone talks about?

what the fuck was he supposed to talk to you about that would make you happy? how amazing you are? the expansiveness of the fucking universe?

Posted by lori | August 8, 2008 12:47 AM

it's so obvious that the first commenter has a grudge against Bradford for some reason and is just looking to start shit.

The only one we know for sure that is talking shit about someone is the first commenter.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 1:03 AM

i'd hit it. srsly.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 1:18 AM

surprised el poisson rouge show hasn't sold out yet

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 12:35 PM

how is deerhunter live?

Posted by iowa | October 21, 2008 4:55 PM

No, really. How is everybody doing?

Posted by Turds in Flight | October 27, 2008 10:53 PM

rockin' good show!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2008 11:18 AM

bradford's not don to earth, nor is he a dick. he's an eccentric neurotic drama queen with a whole lot of musical talent

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2008 1:08 PM

why are some of you so concerned with what kind of person he is aside from his music? Get over yourselves, you guys remind me of how I once might of thought of musicians with that junior-high perception of whether a band "sold out" or not...

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2008 12:55 AM

Can't we all just get along?

Posted by Traffic Ticket | December 11, 2008 4:52 PM

well said. personally i think this sh*t is cool.
