I totally missed Earl Greyhound's set at All Points West on Sunday (in favor of Cat Power), but all the photographers I talked to said they liked what they heard (and saw). Now two more NYC chances to see them were just announced....

The 2008-09 Calhoun Performing Arts Series presents:

Earl Greyhound: Live Concert Recording!
Thursday, September 11, 2008, 7:00pm
Friday, September 12, 2008, 8:00pm

Please note: two dates, two times.

Catch Brooklyn rock explosion "Earl Greyhound" at a live concert recording before they launch their upcoming national tour.

Tickets: $5/students & senior citizens; $10/adults
RSVP: www.calhoun.org/reservations
Where: Mary Lea Johnson Performing Arts Center at The Calhoun School, 433 West End Avenue at 81st Street
Subway: 1 to 79th St.
The shows are being recorded for an album ("live concert recording"). More APW pics below...

So boring and gimmicky. Their music reminds me of the moments when I check 104.3 on the radio for a second then switch to something else.

They really think senior citizens are gonna go? On a side note...I'd hit it.

i heard your mom's boring and gimmicky but i'd still hit it.

commenting on bands you don't even like is even more boring and gimmicky.

Also, Earl Greyhound playing with Smokewagon at SOUTHPAW on Aug 20th

any band wearing all white for a summer performance deserves to photographed

Earl Greyhound are completely rad.

If you can't handle the rock n' roll, perhaps you'd rather go watch some dork get on a stage and shred keyboard shortcuts on his/her G5, instead. (Nothing boring or gimmicky about that).

they rock.

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 3:48 PM

they're also playing bowery on halloween with Portugal the Man

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 3:59 PM

When I think rock n roll I think John Spencer or Nick Cave.

These guys.. Well, they're good at what they do but I can't help but be reminded of a wedding band.

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 4:09 PM

so derivative

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 5:56 PM

wedding band???

you obviously have never seen or heard this band and are just here to post bitter comments.

huge douche.

Earl Greyhound is incredible. Anyone who thinks they haven't done something original with their music hasn't listened hard enough. They're far more harmonically sophisticated than any other band I've seen recently.

Agreed. I should expect to see everyone at that show and if you havent seen them live, it is 100 percent worth paying the five dollars. You guys are idiots. Just wait until they become bigger than that Dan Deacon shit that you guys obsess over. Thank you for posting this BV.
