Icy Demons @ Knitting Factory, NYC - pics
photos by Lori Baily

Tuesday we hopped over to the Knitting Factory to hear [Icy Demons] play some "old" songs (from way back in 2006) and a few excellent new ones, all of which were just the kind of sneakily epic that you'd hope for from a band with six members and just as many ways to kill the term "genre". Watching them was like that time our car broke down and we ended up at a surfer cocktail party where the phone didn't work, people looked at us weird and we thought we saw a body in the pool but it was just an empty keg. Fun times, weird times, but definitely interesting. If you're in, uh, Indiana or Cairo in the next couple days you can catch their catchy 'n' disturbing summer party tunes live before their tour ends. If not, every member is involved in about a billion other projects (including but not limited to Man Man, Chandelier, Herculaneum, and the defunct Need New Body) , so you should be able to catch at least one of them doing something exciting sometime soon. [FADER]Extra Golden was also on the bill (July 29, 2008). An Icy Demons MP3 is HERE. More Icy Demons pics below...
