Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson opens for Thao With The Get Down Stay Down at Bowery Ballroom tonight (Aug 13). David Shultz & The Skyline and Pepi Ginsburg are also on the bill. It's hard to keep track, but I'm pretty sure this MBAR gig was recenly added to his ever-growing list of recent/future NYC shows.

gotta say MBAR was really, really bad opening for Black Kids at Santos Party House a couple weeks ago. Maybe its just me, but i don't get "it" with him.

yup, i thought he was terrible when he opened for tilly and the wall. his band wasn't bad, i think it's his singing that is the problem.

I totally don't get MBAR. He wasn't so hot opening for White Rabbits either. Why is he everywhere now?

MBAR has some problems on stage. talks talks talks, fiddles with tuning forever, bitches about sound. seen him four times now (inadvertantly) and want to like him, but just... eh. enough already.

the hype is about his album which is great. i've very much enjoyed the live shows i've caught but that might be because I know to expect a lot of talking, yelping, mumbling, and rocking
