Jack White has commented for the first time on his upcoming James Bond theme song, "Another Way To Die." The track, written, produced & performed by White and featuring Alicia Keys, is the first duet theme song in Bond movie history. The film, Quantum Of Solace, directed by Marc Forster and staring Daniel Craig as James Bond, will be released theatrically in November '08.Bob Dylan must be jealous. Tour dates below...
Describing the creative process White says:
"After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys, it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen. Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape. Very inspiring to watch. It gave me a new voice, and I wasn't myself anymore. I drummed for her voice and she mimicked the guitar tones, then we joined our voices and screamed and moaned about these characters in the film and their isolation, having no one to trust, not even themselves. Maybe we became them for a few minutes.
The Memphis Horns were there to help us out, along with some of Nashville's finest. Might be the first analogue Bond theme in twenty years, I don't know. We wanted to push soul into those tapes, and join the family of Barry, Bassey, Connery and Craig."Jack White kicks off a series of European festival dates with his band The Raconteurs on August 23rd. A North American tour begins on September 16th in Portland, Oregon.

Creepy photoshopping of Meg into Alicia Keys, but maybe that's what the song was talking about, "I'm slowly turning into you."

Dylan jealous is a reference to Dylan's lyrics on the opening track of Modern Times. Come Anon...step it up.

"Thunder on the Mountain" also name-checks a certain contemporary singer: "I was thinking 'bout Alicia Keys, I couldn't keep from crying/While she was born in Hell's Kitchen, I was livin' down the line." When I ask Dylan what Keys did "to get into your pantheon," he only chuckles at my precious question. "I remember seeing her on the Grammys. I think I was on the show with her, I didn't meet her or anything. But I said to myself, 'There's nothing about that girl I don't like.' "
swoon...
After all those on stage hissy fits and he name checks Alicia Keys?!??...i mean, of all people ALICIA FUCKING KEYS!!! :::stabs self:::

Your bad photoshop combination of Meg White with the face of Alicia Keyes is disrespectful to both women, as musical artists and as human beings. Is it really that hard to be nice to people? Especially when they have done nothing to deserve being insulted?
On the new song: I'm eager to hear it. I'm a huge fan of both The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, it seems like everything Jack White gets involved with turns out great. I have not seen the recent James Bond films because I'm not very keen on the new actor, Daniel Craig. He seems to be missing the light-hearted comic touch, savoire faire and joie de vivre of previous James Bond incarnations, like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. And I personally don't find him attractive at all; James Bond should be sexy, and Daniel Craig does not seem sexy at all, to me. But I really enjoyed James Bond movies in the past, and with the Jack White theme song I might go see this one too.
