You just know there was some SERIOUS 420 action happening in that 1974 Crimson crowd!

Going Saturday after the Battle show in Central Park, can't wait

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 3:44 PM

for the philly guy and everyone else to use the
1st album cover and 1974 pics is like not to get
that there're 2 different bands under the same
name. the frip-below-levin-buford line up that
took over in the 80's has nothing to do with that
60's-70's band. and both were great!
and where's bill, the greatest drummer of his generation, anyway?
my only KC show 20 years ago in london was magic,
we were post-punkers, we were new-wavers, we put
the ole' hippies prog rock generation down for a
while, as part of the trend, but everyone still
admired those 4 masters.

Great photo. 30-odd years ago, sitting in my room, smoking weed and listening to classic KC, who'd guess I'd be choosing to see Neil Diamond over KC this weekend?

that live album from that show "USA" is incredible. Thanks for the amazing photo! I'm gonna go put on "Red" right now and get my john wetton on.

"Going Saturday after the Battle show in Central Park, can't wait"

i second that

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 4:14 PM

The Beatles are playing central park? Who's filling in for John and George?

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 4:19 PM

can't wait I'll be at two of the Nokia shows. I've been seeing KC everytime they come to NYC since 81 and been a fan since the 70's. The addition of Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison is a plus along with Tony coming back. I've been reading reviews of all the shows on this mini-tour and they have been great except for this one you linked to and a few snobs who still think KC is stuck in the 70's. Yeah Fripp can be a jerk and hide but he actually is a nice guy off the stage.

I think I was at that 1974 show. $3 for the good seats, $2 for the bleachers and Golden Earing opening up the show! I think it was on the "Red" tour. Too bad that version of King Crimson isn't playing.

That reviewer didn't even go into the show -- simply awful journalism (and no, I'm not a King Crimson fan).

I was born 3 days after this pic was taken :)

And yes, I know you dont care.

fripp is a dick.

The Philly writer is an embarrassment to our region. The writer didn't offer a balanced critique, or a review for that matter- he threw a tantrum.

Incidentally, the early cover art is on t-shirts for sale at the current shows.

The Keswick concert 8/12 was fantastic, by the way.

Wow! that pic brought back memories, I was at that show, Cross and bb rock.
Can't wait till saturday,
Red is their best by far..

i sat first row, fripp was great, tony was great, the set list was bad, PT's drummer was great, show 2 short, crowd to stupid

Posted by victor tripaldi | August 15, 2008 8:23 AM

what was the set list? From what I've read it's a lot of their 80's stuff, which is fine with me

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 9:58 AM

woohoo tickets are available again for today's show. dropped by the box office yesterday and they said tickets were sold out except for sunday.

seats aren't bad either, got orchestra row dd.

I don't understand why Robert Fripp sits behind a stack of amps and does not welcome the crowd.

Stop being so dramatic Mr. Fripp.

Be happy with what you have!!!! ...fans that want to see you. Interact with you!

He is lucky that he is that good.

The show should have been another 45 min

Posted by John Mcleever | August 15, 2008 1:40 PM

The show started at 8:40PM and ended at about 10:20PM. It was a good show but certainly not great. I know Fripp often sits while performing but for Chrissakes, he didn't need to applaud his band like he was a member of the audience at the end of the show. Weird dude.

Great to read your comments about my brother Robert Fripp and King Crimson.
The Chicago shows at Park West were amazing!

What you may not know is Robert is as good a public speaker as he is a guitarist.
Please spread the word about Robert Fripp’s public speaking events and

Wow got incredibly lucky with that day of show ticket. I was 3 rows from the stage! Incredible show, it went by really fast though they played a little over 1.5 hours. Fripp is weird standing off from the rest of the group like that at the end but eh, he's always been like that.

saw the 1st nokia show the band was great but fripp is a complete dick hiding like a little girl come out come out wherever you are i think hes turning into a shizoid man he needs a 5th of jack and a bottle of prozak the band was great but fripp was disapointing and a scared little man very very sad

i hear punctuation is nice on occasion.

anyway, Fripp does his thing and always sort of has, in spite of how silly it might be. the band sounded really good, but man...the fans. it's almost like going to a midnight showing of Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

Posted by Isfet | August 18, 2008 12:59 PM

Went to Fridays show at the Nokia. I hate to disappoint anyone but Fripp smiled ear to ear the whole time. :)
