Land of Talk @ Citysol, NYC - July 14, 2007

Old news, but never explicitly pointed out by me, Liz Powell from Land of Talk can be heard on Broken Social Scene's new Brendan Canning album. It's the second time Liz and Brendan worked together. Land of Talk also have a new album of their own coming out soon - October 7th to be exact. And even sooner they'll play a show at Mercury Lounge in NYC - September 11th to be exact. Tickets are now on sale.

I've always thought this chick was sexy. They're a good band too I just haven't heard anything from them in awhile.

This band is ok. I was at the Mercury Lounge recently and I heard this band from Staten Island called Happy Anarchy, which blew my mind with their live performance.

What about the band makes you think they are great? They have that typical indie rock sound, especially her melody line and the way she sings. I guess its an easy sell because it sounds like all the other hipster music.

Land of Talk definitely has the make of an excellent indie rock band, but that's not saying a good sound is easy to come by. There is so much music out there that is missing some component or another. I think they have it all. Even the fact that they make so much depth to their sound with only 3 instruments is quite a testament. Not to mention Lizzy's voice is unique and untouchable. Musicality, rhythmic diversity, lyrical intricacy... I'm starting to sound like a jackass. This is an excellent band.
