Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week
With over a decade between album releases, the Verve's fourth album, Forth, gets its US release tomorrow, and is also available in a double-album vinyl package that also includes the CD.
Matthew Sweet's Sunshine Lies is my most anticipated release from the king of power pop. The album features contributions from Susannah Hoffs of the Bangles as well as longtime collaborators Richard Lloyd, Ric Menck, and others.
I am also looking forward to hearing Farscape, the collaboration between Klaus Schultze and Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard.
Among the week's other new releases, I can recommend Electric Touch's self-titled album, The Gabe Dixon Band's self-titled release, Woodhands' Heart Attack, and Jonatha Brooke's The Works
The week's reissues include the self-titled album from Hindu Love Gods (Warren Zevon fronting a Michael Stipe-less REM) and several Alice Cooper reissues.
What new releases can you recommend this week?

The Matthew Sweet album is pretty nice psych record. A pleasant surprise.
The Verve, though: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Some nice textures happen but the band never takes off. A fucking shame. Maybe "Fifth" will be better.

electric touch record is great!!!

it is a shame that this verve album is pretty insignificant. Most of the slower stuff sounds like an Ashcroft solo album. McCabe never really goes off at all and it's a damn shame.
