There is no one there. At Holy Fuck at Lolla (early Friday set (12:30)), there were probably 20 times as many people watching.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:07 PM
so
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:09 PM
I think the point was this is going to be a massive failure. At any major festival, it's crowded Friday at 3 p.m.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:10 PM
The Bullet Stage is where Little Brother was performing at that time. I believe The Go! Team was on Blue Comet starting at 2:30. That may be why there is such a small crowd in the pic.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:13 PM
i think theres some confusion. thats definitely the main stage
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:15 PM
yo i totally hope this thing sucks or whatever cause i would laugh so hard and shit. that'd be cool.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:17 PM
I don't know, it looks like you can see Little Brother on stage in the full size pic...
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:18 PM
grr. ha. Bao's cell phone service is spotty. He told me "Bullet" and "right before Go Team". Trying to get in touch with him.
Posted by brooklynvegan | August 8, 2008 3:19 PM
for now it is "Bao sent the above pic of one of the stages right before The Go! Team went on"
:/

Warning to adult folk!
I just got an update.
Apparently beers are $9 dollars and they give you a wristband that only allows you to buy 5 beers for the whole day and you are not allowed to leave the designated area with the beer.
This sucks!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:21 PM
Oh my god? Is that true about the beer. Stellas were $5 at Lolla and you could buy four at a time. Rip-off.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:30 PM
ok, after much confusion, it is Little Brother in the pic, playing on the bullet stage, right before The Go Team started on the Blue Comet Stage.
Posted by brooklynvegan | August 8, 2008 3:30 PM
in an effort to go green, are they rationing the water too?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:32 PM
Caption should say:
27 people watching Little Brother at All Points West.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:34 PM
At Coachella you can only drink beers in a restricted area away from the bands. So it wouldn't surprise me if that part is correct.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:37 PM
but why wouldn't they post information like this on the website rather than having people spend $100 and get there disappointed?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:39 PM
are they frisking on the way in? can u bring a flask?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:42 PM
full cavity search.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:47 PM
Hmm, the five beer limit seems a bit hard to believe. I mean, $9 is absurd. But if they have the nerve to charge that, why would they cap volume?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:50 PM
my dealer got busted. can someone sell me some weed at the festival?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:52 PM
352 are you a lady ?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 3:55 PM
five-beer limit for the duration of the show? that's really lame. i guess they should expect a lot of piss-drunk people showing up, slowly nursing/maintaining their buzzes throughout the day.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:01 PM
At $9 a beer, I now completely understand why this is being promoted as "green" festival. Its that green not the other green.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:10 PM
5 beers for the whole day?! That's ridiculous.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:10 PM
5 beer limit? Blasphemy! I'd barely even catch a buzz son. Now I'm glad I opted not to spend 90 dollars to see radiohead.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:13 PM
these threads are making me seriously consider selling my saturday ticket.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:14 PM
Everything is horrible!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:16 PM
Ahhhhhh!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:18 PM
4:14, me too. if someone gave me face id ditch it in a second and go see the Stooges.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:18 PM
Please tell me the 5 beer limit is inaccurate. Also, I'm still concerned about the smoking tents, although I'm sure that it's nearly impossible to patrol people that closely. Ugh, maybe New York festivals are inherently doomed.
Posted by Billy | August 8, 2008 4:18 PM
I'd so tap that fat girl in the purple dress coming towards the camera!!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:19 PM
ha! you herb.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:25 PM
yeah. i think i'm going to sell my ticket to tomorrow and instead go see the stooges. this apw thing is really looking like a giant headache.
i'm seeing metric tonight anyway, and saw mates of state and the duke spirit last night. radiohead will be back and it probably won't be at liberty state park next time.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:26 PM
"5 drinks per day. $7 for bud. last call 8:30!!!!"
text from a friend who's there. and yes, you have to stay in there area
so so lame
so I spent $100 on this shit show just to see Radiohead instead of going to Virigin Fest, why?
Posted by Foster | August 8, 2008 4:32 PM
rationalize away people, whatever makes you feeel better. i hope you sad fuckers don't do this for every event in your life.
im going to have a great time each day
who the fuck needs beer anyways.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:34 PM
^^^ What a tool
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:36 PM
anyone have info on the security pat down? is this flask-able?
Posted by ciceroj | August 8, 2008 4:36 PM
flask away ciceroj what do you have to lose? (aside your flask and your alcohol and your integrity)
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:39 PM
I'm definitely sticking my flask up my ass...no one's gonna take away my good time!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:41 PM
all of which combined have a value of less than $9, so it's probably worth it, huh?
Posted by ciceroj | August 8, 2008 4:41 PM
they really should've made this information available in the beginning. i think some people won't come until late, even if it means missing a few bands
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:42 PM
Are you people kidding? This is a freaking festival in Liberty State Park.with the emphasis on STATE PARK! First of all you're lucky they're even selling beer. All you whiny little bitches please sell your tickets...cause I'm a whiny bitch magnet.. I always get the people that complain through out an entire set. Your the same losers that bitch about the bands, the beer, the weather, the food, the other whiny bitches, your gay skinny jeans and any other stupid little thing you can think about. Enjoy it for what it is. An awesome location with some awesome bands. Oh wait you you'll probably complain about Radiohead too. Please DO NOT SHOW UP>>>SELL ALL YOUR TICKETS.
Posted by MrMojo | August 8, 2008 4:44 PM
Yo id totally flask it son fuck da man!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:46 PM
well, if the city of new york weren't such twats about having large events in public parks, they could have done something like this in a large place like van cortlandt or, hell, the great lawn.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:47 PM
we're not whiny bitches, just alcoholics.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:48 PM
Mojo i hate whiners too but come on who's gonna tell me I can only drink 5 fuckin beers after I paid 7 bucks for each of them and spent 90 bucks just to get in the gates...it's like a nazi prison camp for christ sakes.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:48 PM
seriously I'm pretty laid back in general but if you fuck wit my booze i'll kill you.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:51 PM
prediction on tonight's comments: "radiohead killed it, but everything else about the event was a disaster."
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:52 PM
MrMojo, I cordially invite you to lick my chocolate, salty balls. You fuck head. It's an ALL DAY event. 5 beers doesn't even allow for 1 beer every two hours. Some of us enjoy beer. None of the other shit you mentioned has anything to do with that fact, so just shut up.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:54 PM
it is friday (people work), it is in the NYC/NJ area (hipsters) and Radiohead and Underworld don't play until past 6pm. Understandable nobody was there
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:56 PM
Anon 4:54. Well said.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:57 PM
Ughhh 25 dollar ferry rides, 9 dollar beers, 5 beer limits for a festival that starts at noon? If you say arrive at 2, thats less then a beer an hour until the 8:30 last call.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:57 PM
why would you want to arrive at noon? there's nothing worth seeing until 8:30.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 4:58 PM
There's an 88 beer limit per person at 88BoaDrum. Clearly you've all chosen to go to the wrong event.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:06 PM
Salty Chocolate Douchebag. Im sorry It must of been the skinny jean comment. I enjoy beer too...along with pills and skunk. Get a life..there's ways around everything you stupid shit.Your trying to tell me you'll only drink 5 beers. I hope I run into you I'll piss in your mouth.
Posted by MrMojo | August 8, 2008 5:14 PM
Ill get there tomorrow just in time to see Animal Collective, have my five beer and then push my way to the front to see Radiohead
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:15 PM
really looking forward to seeing radiohead tomorrow night...but I had a feeling the people behind APW would find some way to fuck shit up.
5 beers is a joke.
I hate when anyone tries to stifle my alcoholism.
surprised they don't want to take more of my money.
still think it'll be worth it though.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:15 PM
I'll drink my 5 beers and then beat up hipsters and steal their beers until I've had my fill.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:19 PM
Beer price police here: At Lolla, Bud and Bud Light was $5, Stella and other premiums were $7. 20 oz. bottles of Smart Water were $2. All great deals.
Can't say I'm that surprised that they're charging $7 for Bud at APW, although it does suck...but an all-day limit...I don't think I've ever heard of that at any event ever? Anyone else?
Posted by Cam D | August 8, 2008 5:19 PM
"why would you want to arrive at noon? there's nothing worth seeing until 8:30."
underworld, grizzly bear, girl talk.
Posted by youreWrong | August 8, 2008 5:23 PM
you guys are old enough to drink?
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 5:31 PM
why dont you just take your wristband off aafter 5 beers and get a wristband again (assuming there going to check it off on the wristband) they wont remember your face and its as if you just got there :)
Posted by Daniil | August 8, 2008 5:48 PM
"Some of us enjoy beer."
Well, how watered down is the beer they're selling at APW? You may not enjoy that "beer" after all.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:03 PM
Daniil, good to know people still use their head around here. That is a wonderful suggestion!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:07 PM
just in case people forget, this is happening in NEW JERSEY, not NYC. Any beef with the fest should be directed at that shithole of a state. The price of everything, though, has everything to do with the site's proximity to NYC.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:10 PM
all this concern over the beer. Rightly so, but someone mentioned smoking tents. Does that mean there are smoke nazis everywhere telling you you can't smoke OUTDOOORS? More importantly, what about my weeds!? Is this a sneaky way to single out the evil act of smoking weed and enjoying an outdoor festy? Gah this sounds lame. Still going tomorrow. but laaaaame!
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:25 PM
The $7 buds are a 16 oz beer so thats 1 1/3 beers and its a better value so its the same as a $5 beer.
And 5 16 oz beers is 80 oz of beer. If you cant get by a festival with more than half a gallon of beer, you are a serious fucko and shouldn't be around other people.
I just left the smoking lounge and its an American Spirit tent giving our FREE cigarettes.
You haters are such assholes. Stay away. This festival is awesome.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:36 PM
wow. free cigarettes. there's a real winner.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:54 PM
makes more sense than an outdoor show with no smoking
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:58 PM
yeah. cancer is awesome.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 6:59 PM
"If you cant get by a festival with more than half a gallon of beer, you are a serious fucko and shouldn't be around other people."
I can drink a half gallon of beer in 10 minutes you pussy.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 7:09 PM
wow. another winner.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 7:18 PM
"The $7 buds are a 16 oz beer so thats 1 1/3 beers and its a better value so its the same as a $5 beer."
$7 / 16 oz = $.4375 per oz
$5 / 12 oz = $.4167 per oz
The difference is small enough to be negligible, so you're right about it being the same, but you also said it's a better value, which it's not.
Posted by Yeah, I'm bored. | August 8, 2008 7:19 PM
Yo I'm on my little sail boat! Ima meet u guys there! I have no ticket yet, but I caught some Wifi off some Chinese ship passing by. Yoo, I want those American Spirits!! Radiohead, Radiohead!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 8:12 PM
maybe if the idiots who spent their workday posting shit ass comments on this board actually did work they would be able to afford a ticket to the festival instead of just whining about it.
boohoo it costs too much. losers.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 8:14 PM
dude 8:14... you're killin the vibe man...
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 8:17 PM
i love how people are bitching about the ferry ride being expensive just a few posts away and yet would be willing to pay more than $45 for beer.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2008 11:23 PM
The ferry ride was super smoooth. totally worth it
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 12:02 AM
SO if anyone anyone has questiond about tomm.
$7 dollars for bud/light.
$9 dollars for stella and such.
5 drink limit for entire day in designated area. They mark you hand so you don't try and get another wristband but if you really want to you can spend 10 minutes to wash it off.
last call at 8:30
You will get frisked and bag checked but if you are crafty you will be able to smuggle in booze.
Smoking the 420 was in abundance so that can be an option.
There was plenty of space to move around for everybody on the stages until radiohead came on.
Smoking is allowed everywhere.
Food was actually reasonable and tasty...6-8 dollars for a big plate of food.
The lines to get in and on transit were very quick.
Long lines for beer, id check for beer and bathroom.
Everything is spaced out pretty far so prepare for alot of walking.
I was a little pissed on the 8:30 last call...meaning you could not enjoy a drink for the entire Radiohead set.
It was basically a ghost town till about 5pm.
highlight for me was girl talk just because he got everyone dancing so much.
Any other question, im sure other people can chime in
Posted by Up Yours | August 9, 2008 12:19 AM
ive been hating on this fest for a while, but i enjoyed the show today...although i only saw underworld and radiohead. im sure tomorrow will be much more crowded. not lookin forward to that
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 12:32 AM
The thing I was dreading most was the trip back, but it took me only 90 minutes to get from radiohead stage to chelsea (via Path).
All in all, it was a totally fun, easy, disaster-free day. And it sure is pretty out there...
Handy tip: Bring a big plastic water bottle with you (bag check was weak), fill it with beer in the garden, carry the bottle in your bag. Or bring a flask. Had a nice buzz all day long.
And yes, Radiohead were incredible, as expected. How to Disappear Completely brought tears to me eyes.
Can't wait to do it again tomorrow.
Posted by maitai | August 9, 2008 12:43 AM
Shit I wasn't thinking about the wqater bottle trick..good call.
Brooklynvegan is actually helpful sometimes.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 12:50 AM
Deduct the $30 in free American Spirit cigarettes I was given in that hut of theirs and this Radiohead show with 3 to 4 first class openers only cost me a little over $50. However, by NO means is this anywhere close to a world class music festival.
Posted by blackhat | August 9, 2008 1:30 AM
radiohead = worth it
Posted by mj | August 9, 2008 1:42 AM
CSS killed it. Girl talk Killed it. Radiohead achieved perfection. BOTTOM LINE
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 2:03 AM
just got back. radiohead sucked, worst band ever
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2008 2:04 AM
just smoke weed, sit back and enjoy the show. Bud sucks anyway,. or, bring a flask or plastic bottle with rum- it will be very yummy with the smoothies they have-seriously...
Posted by penny | August 9, 2008 2:08 AM
Ok this venue sucks. I feel like Radiohead was going thru the motions cause the crowd energy was low. OK the crowd sucked. Radiohead were flawless but something was missing. I've seen them 15 times. Radiohead, not the crowd. Seemed like this crowd was just checking them out. A smaller venue dictates die hards which creates crazy energy. The light show blew for a large scale. I know it's green....the food was pretty bad. Everything is a mile walk, yes I'm getting old! Free cigarettes were the highlight...yay cancer! It took 2 and a half hours to get back to Manhattan. I got yelled at by this punk cause I didn't have a wristband to enter the beer area even tho I was just trying to go to the bathroom. I should have bitch slapped him.
This event was the worst large scale outdoor event imaginable!
A FUCKING DISASTER!

Can't forget how the sign at the entrance reads "No Stuffed Animals", on the off-chance that people are either smuggling drugs or sleeping with their childhood teddy bear on the grass somewhere.
