Kanye West took a bit of a jab at the festival's schedule, specifically the choice concertgoers had to make between his performance and one from Nine Inch Nails happening at the same time at the other end of the park (a dilemma faced by fans at Chicago's Lollapalooza a week earlier). "It's not a black-or-white thing, it's not a rap-or-rock-and-roll thing," he exclaimed. "It's a good-music thing. We jam about good things from the heart. How can you pick between me and Trent Reznor?" [MTV]
Nine Inch Nails (and Kanye West) headlined Sunday night at the Virgin Festival in Baltimore (Aug 10, 2008). NIN also headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago exactly one week earlier. Weezer and My Morning Jacket are playing MSG,but NIN is not.Weird 'bro.

I would love to know how cities are planned for a tour and nyc is not included. When NIN's biggest fanbase is here.

don't kid yourself, kanye, you are not even in NIN's league yet... let's see where you're at in ten years.

Can Kanye open his mouth and not sound like a complete prick?

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 11:30 AM

I'm dense. Is he ragging on NIN or the festival organizers for putting them against each other?

Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 11:46 AM

that is justin meldal-johnson...is he still playing with beck too I wonder?
kanye, while always managing to sound like a giant douche, does make a point. having two headliners up against each other doesn't seem like the best way to schedule a lineup (even if he's not in NIN's league)

is he juicing?

Posted by Lindsay | August 12, 2008 12:26 PM

definitely looks like it

beck's old bassist?

Posted by chinolam | August 12, 2008 2:10 PM

a. Yes it's Beck's former band leader bassist Justin.

b. Trent took up body building once he got sober.

c. I think Kayne is saying it's not fair to make folks pick between NIN and Kayne as they may share fans.

d. Trent is a golden god.
