Sometimes this city utterly depresses me....

I want him to walk into a pre-school and see if he comes out alive.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 12:10 PM

Posted by joe | August 25, 2008 12:19 PM

The sad thing is that this sort of thing happens EVERY day.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 12:19 PM

i've seen them work at gap and old navy

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 12:23 PM

^ EXACTLY
what used to seem so outlandish is now so predictable.
I'm so fucking tired of unicorns-w/ponytails, neon-kittens-eating glitter-ice-cream-cones-and-paintballs-exploding-in-romper room bands. What are we, toddlers from the 80's?

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 12:29 PM

He's like a human claw machine! Where do I put my quarter in, because I'm totally going to win that Dino doll on his shin.

(Is that girl next to him doing pilates?)

Posted by Lt. Slothrop | August 25, 2008 12:31 PM

^^^^^^^^

Sadly, that pilates person is a guy....

Posted by The Rajah of Rehab | August 25, 2008 1:04 PM

i'm moving.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 1:17 PM

lol the people in the audience don't look amused at all. i think they'd all rather be at the sugar factory across the street.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 1:20 PM

That show was a blast. Went to see The Shakes and got my first glimpse of these guys. Fucking fun as hell!

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 1:33 PM

oh my god is that my long lost miss piggy?!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been looking for her since forever!!!!!!!!! she had that same exact red bonnet!

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 1:44 PM

>>Sadly, that pilates person is a guy....<<

Hmmm... I didn't know mom-shorts were the new choice look for males.

Posted by Lt. Slothrop | August 25, 2008 1:52 PM

nice try.

Posted by sasso | August 25, 2008 3:19 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 4:08 PM

i recently had a dream that I stuffed animals came to life and were chasing me, so this just freaks me out on a personal level...

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 5:00 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 5:14 PM

tulsa

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 5:45 PM

NNNNEEEEEIIIILLLLLL!
You played at our beach house.
Why do all these strangers hate you so much?
You sewed stuffed animals to some clothes and rocked out.
Are they jealous that they're not on David Byrne's record label or something????
I guess I would be too.

Posted by Caitlin | August 25, 2008 11:21 PM

there were a ton of self concious people not letting themselves enjoy some awesome songs at this show.

whether you are into the performance element or not, there is no need for anyone to move anywhere and die.

neil is all about love.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2008 11:52 PM

Though I still hold that the only decent music to ever come out of Purchase is Communication Corporation (Take that, Regina Spektor and Moby post-self titled album), Neil does in fact rule.

I'm not looking forward to the even worse student apathy and even shittier bands booked at Purchase this year.

Posted by Chris | August 26, 2008 12:26 AM

oh hell yeah neil!

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2008 1:27 AM

"there were a ton of self concious people not letting themselves enjoy some awesome songs at this show."

No, the MUSIC was not letting us enjoy the show

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2008 10:39 AM

should have put this in the purchase a+d video. totally would have sucked less

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2008 12:03 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2008 12:27 PM

It's really interesting to me how much hipsters seem to hate one another. Why does this, let alone anything fashion or music related, cause anyone to suggest death?

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2008 9:35 PM

This is pretty amaaazing

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 8:05 AM

communication corporation is only slightly better than tpdr. ur all bad dan deacons. dan deacon forever and ever.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2008 7:07 PM

i actually know neil, & i agree with the majority; a boy with a bad childhood that aspires to be someone that isn't....there.

he's a loser, & his music sucks, & he needs to stop giving suny purchase a bad image.

enjoy your 15 minutes of fame buddy, cause no one gives a shit.

ps. what "love" neil? you're a fucking asshole, & ERRRBODY KNOWS IT.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 12:20 AM

I know Neil too, grew up with the dude, and I don't think he had a bad childhood...

I do think his music sucks, but it doesn't mean I don't like Neil. Thinking about Neil, I remember a strange character who would call me up at 3:30 in the morning on a Tuesday to go for a walk across town and talk philosophy and music and what not.

Neil! Good to see you've been signed to a record label. I never knew you were the musical type; you never played instruments or sang in high school. David Byrne's bad ass, too.

Then again, been a while since I've seen Neil. He could have been infected by all this senselessness that has absolutely ruined Brooklyn. Everybody in that photo, including Neil, looks like a poser douche bag. But I like Neil too much to call him one of those.

Anyway, good luck to you buddy. Shoot me an e-mail sometime.

Plus... White Blues and The Highway Shoes is the *only* decent band to *ever* come out of Purchase. And I do mean that. *Peace*!

Neil is amazing and one of the most genuine people to ever go to this school. If you talk to him for 5 minutes or honestly go to one of his shows you feel that. It becomes one room consumed by the kind of fun you wanted to have but weren't allowed to as a kid.
I hate the hipsters too but Neil is just, well, Neil and that's why we love him. All his music is so vulnerable and real that you'll be dancing to it while holding a light saber and he and Jesse are chasing you around with puppets and you'll have to stop and just realize he's actually writing music about real human truths like love and loneliness.
Neil, keep being Neil. Don't die or go anywhere that will cause you not to make more of the things you love.
