Takka Takka w/ Mates of State, Black Angels w/ Metric
Takka Takka is playing the Mates of State / Telepathique show at Highline Ballroom tonight. The Black Angels (who are also playing APW) are playing the late show with Metric Friday night.

My god. I hope this Telepathique never ever plays another show in the city, or anywhere. What a rude, unprepared group of people. Not only was their set downright awful, but they didn't seem to even know the bulk of their material -- drum beats way off, lyrics coming in at the wrong time, members not sure which instrument to use; then problems with instruments not working. It was pretty hellish to watch. It was funny, however, watching someone in their management tell someone to put away their phone (the guy looked to be sending a text message), saying it interferes with the band's lighting. Right.
Then, the assholes in the band pushed their way to the front about three songs into the Mates of State set, and proceeded to toss hats back and forth with other members on the side of the stage, and just be overall assholes to the Mates fans that waited hours to see their headlining set. Really, just a giant group of douches that I hope never gets booked again to New York. I really hope Mates of State never ever does another show with them. Ridiculous unprofessionalism all around.

How was the Mates set? I didn't know Takka was playing so had to cut out before Mates got up. (TOTALLY agree on the Telepathique comment, what a waste to have those douches play).

Agreed w/previous comment about Telepathique! I was with the awesome MOS fans in the front...and BOOM! The idiot; hat wearing guy who DJed/Drummed for Telepathique was being a jerk. He was mocking two girls who danced and looked like having a great time...He kept throwing his hat back and forth to his friend from the sides and one time HIT someone...sooooo rude!
I could care less about Telepathique. Lead singer wanna be 80s Madonna.

I was the guy that got hit with the hat (standing directly to their left). I looked over at the dude with a cold stare and he simply smiled and gave a thumbs up. Those two girls dancing looked to be having a blast and I think Kori started cracking up at one point early on.
Just sucks that the Mates fans had to put up with this from Telepathique. I hope they're never allowed back in the country.
