The Bell House is opening in Brooklyn in Fall 2008

I forgot to post the above pictures back in the end of June when they were taken by Bryan Bruchman at the new Brooklyn, Union Hall-affiliated venue that will be called The Bell House (website under construction).
Also recently in venues:
* Le Poisson Rouge is an arts institution
* City Winery opening soon
* Rififi is closed
* Coney Island is getting an amphitheater
* Brooklyn Bowl will meld bowling & live music
* Knitting Factory is allowed to move to Brooklyn
* Galapagos is now Public Assembly (or soon anyway)

Are there really enough decent shows for all of these fancy venues?

Union hall sucks. I'm sure the booker convinces artists that the venue is some amazing, beautiful space like the upstairs area where all of the preppy upper west side transplants hang out who are ruining the neighborhood for the previously unpreppy locals (5th never used to have strollers. it was more like a young artists haunt with lots of lesbians) when in fact its a tiny piece of worthless crap. Its a blight to the area. so if management is the same we can expect more shit. Keep you "bocce" warehouse. We dont need it.

Union Hall rules. It has a vibe that is positive and unique.

Union Hall has great shows downstairs. I agree that the prepsters quotient upstairs can be a bit much, but that's the problem with going out on a friday or saturday night in a lot of places. Go on a weekday for a more local crowd. Looking forward to the new venue.

I went to Happyending the other day and the crowd was 100000% more annoying than union hall.
and I thought union hall was alittle annoying but not anymore. I can deal with a few doods wearing some multi colored button ups.

Union Hall is by far one of the best venues in the city. Who gives a shit about what people hang out upstairs ... honestly, what's the point?
The folks at Union Hall are amazing ... more so than any other venue in New York, they treat the artists with a lot of respect... and put on interesting shows while doing it.
