Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 9:18 AM

My Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 flew out of my pocket in the middle of Glass Danse. If anyone found it, please email me at bryanbrinkman@gmail.com. It had a photos of skyline, can of mildew, etc.

thanks

Posted by bryan | August 19, 2008 9:19 AM

actually thought the new songs were pretty bad ass live.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 9:28 AM

thanks for the free camera, bryan

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 10:06 AM

what is WITH smelly photographers? yes, you're cool because you have a photo pass and a big camera. this does not dismiss you from the responsibility of BATHING.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 10:17 AM

were there posters for sale? i forgot to check and would like to buy one. or will trade a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 for it.

no but really i would like one.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 10:23 AM

@10:17

you're at a dance concert and you're worrying about how the photographers smell? uh......

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 10:50 AM

i happen to enjoy my hyper-masculine musky smell. to quote a fairly hillarious t-shirt "not my fucking problem".

Posted by ryan | August 19, 2008 10:59 AM

setlist???

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 11:07 AM

@1038: when the motherfucker smells so bad that i have to hold my breath to enjoy the show? yeah.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 11:11 AM

@ryan: if by "musky," you mean "unwashed," then alright.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 11:12 AM

machine in the ghost
forever growing centipedes

Posted by bryan | August 19, 2008 11:25 AM

someone explain how there are enough people who still like these flavor of the months from 6 YEARS AGO that they can still fill a 300 capacity venue?

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 11:43 AM

^^^^^^
because they consistently put on amazing live shows.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 11:47 AM

11:43: one more time, in english!

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 12:07 PM

they also played
Take Me to the Hospital!!!!!
i love when they play it live

11:43
BECUZ THE FAINT FUCKING OWN YOUR ASS

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 1:33 PM

the Faint have been hacks since inception, back when they were Bright Eyes' cute little mod friends who were trying to rip off the GSL scene and be the Rapture II

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 1:44 PM

yes, the photographer did smell. I was standing right behind him xP
Great show though; the songs from the new album sounded much better live

Posted by cakemaster | August 19, 2008 1:54 PM

the show was amazing. and these pics are fantastic!

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 1:54 PM

lead singer is balding!

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 1:54 PM

what amazed you about it? I'm curious

looks and sounds a lot like a commercial band reciting their usual routine to me, but I'm open to explanations of why it's so great to you.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 1:57 PM

are these guys still disco punk?

if so, that's sad

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 2:03 PM

dare i say it, i'd rather see the faint than girl talk.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 2:07 PM

they have great energy and smart lyrics. sort of a darker, electronic music. and there's nothing better than being in a sweaty crowd listening and dancing to live music

Posted by cakemaster | August 19, 2008 2:21 PM

I 2nd the Dr. Horrible comment.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 2:47 PM

seriously, a lab coat?

come on, you don't have to be THAT cliché

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 3:33 PM

Sorry for the lengthy opinion,

The Faint consistently puts on a great show and draws great energetic crowds. Period. Their music has evolved from Media and people like 9:07 AM have probably never listened to their music (old or new) and/or never been to one of their live shows. Their new album, which hasn't gotten great reviews, surprised me as it sounded great live, especially Get Seduced, and actually fit in perfectly with their previous hits. I was upstairs and from there you could tell the crowd was rocking and very into every song which is refreshing after way too many shows of lifeless indie rock NYC fans.

Flavor of the month? Really 11:43 AM? More like Flavor of the Decade, it's hard to believe they have been making music for more than 10 years. I think the reason why The Faint and others (The Rapture, LCD, !!!, Fischerspooner, Cut Copy) succeed so well at this 80's inspired electronic pop genre because they reinvent it. In the Faint's case with dark lyrics and dance-able beats. They don't go over the top with cheese to recreate the electro-pop of previous generations a la The Bravery and The Editors and others.

On a side note, they always have great openers and you can always expect to be entertained by them too. From the past they have had Ratatat, TV on the Radio, Ladytron...and last night they had two solid acts worth looking into (Shy Child, Antipop).

PS - I respect all opinions, just wanted to defend a band that deserves the hype.

Posted by B | August 19, 2008 4:15 PM

4:15, your heartfelt post is admirable.

the band is still not my thing, but I'm glad you can defend them intelligently

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 5:16 PM

well said 4:15.

they are a band that is only meant to be seen live because once you do you have no other option than to say they are great.

same to be said about !!!, etc. they may no longer be the most talked about group (or genre if you can call it that) but they are still amazing live bands and a hell of a good time.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 9:22 PM

am i the only one who thought the opening acts had no talent?
