the Thursday night in Dance (Matthew Dear, Alland Byallo)

Alland Byallo

Thursday night (August 14) Matthew Dear is at Santos. I know a lot of people like his music, and every now and then I'll find myself into one of his tracks, but honestly I was a little bored when I saw him at Flavorpill's One Step Beyond Party a few months ago. It wasn't so minimal that I couldn't stand it, but it just didn't make me want to dance at all. Hopefully you will have a different experience tonight:

$16.25 (after fees) advanced tickets available here.
If Matthew Dear's not doing it for you, dip down into Santos basement where Max Pask will be deejaying. From the looks of this video Max is pretty adept at making people lose it on the dancefloor:
Another option for Thursday:

This is another that falls outside of my regular listening - a little more minimal, but Alland Byallo's music has just enough thump to pique my curiosity. Download his live set from Compression in LA at the top of this post.

Are they really using Respect Is Burning as the name for their weekly? If so, I sincerely hope that this is at least somehow connected to those Parisians who made R.I.B. a brand. Otherwise, someone's just capitalizing on the success of someone else.
I'm reminded of a club I went to one night back at the dawn of this century. There was a "God's Kitchen" night so we of course assumed it was related to the London parties of that name. It wasn't, and we were deeply disappointed.

I've been a fan of his for a long, long time. If you prefer the harder stuff, check out his alter ego shows/discs as "Audion" which he created a couple years back when he put out the albums with singing as just "matthew dear"

Yes its the same Respect is Burning from Paris, same people. Thank You for your vigilance, New York needs more hall monitors. It's good to have a forum where people can anonymously tattle-tail even if there assertions are false. Noyokono deserves a wedgie--- Nerds!!!!.

Anonymous wedgie, 5:58PM? You obviously were not a bully back in school! Unless you were a ninja bully? If so, then stay away. If not, still stay away.

Matthew Dear can be pretty good. I think he went as Jabberjaw at the flavorpill show, and that stuff is not as good.
