even if you pay the $30, you might not get in

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 11:19 AM

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 11:23 AM

Really odd way to list a show...especially one that costs $30. Pass.

"$30 ticket for a "might be playing" hahaha"

"Really odd way to list a show...especially one that costs $30. Pass."

^^^^^^^^^^
It's unreal that people can find a reason to bitch here. TVOTR playing their first NYC show in a long time? And at a place that holds under 1000 people? And you can actually get tickets?

All this weird listing is because TVOTR can't play a normal advertised show before their Brooklyn dates in October. Not that hard to figure out.

It sounds like it could be a great night, and I'll be there with people who feel similarly. Thanks for the heads up, BV.

Jesus, 4am on monday night? Doesn't anybody work in this city?

Posted by anon | August 14, 2008 12:39 PM

should have been born rich...

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 12:41 PM

I hate all of you.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 1:41 PM

why would anybody not get in? idiots. it's definitely them, and they're definitely going to sell out in the next few hours.

santos is a really cool, intimate space; saw Q-Tip DJ there last week. Should be an amazing warmup show.

"superfly" "a little band we heard could be TVOTR"

Anyway, it totally is, so get tix now!

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 4:38 PM

Probably not allowed to announce actual name because of a no compete clause in their contract for the brooklyn shows. Pretty standard.

The weird part is that when bands play special impromptu shows they usually tend to announce them on their fan-list and not on the ticket page. Oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2008 4:52 PM

They're not actually playing...

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 4:08 PM

It looks like the Ticketweb and benefit info page have been changed, but it still says "Simply Fly" are on the bill.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 4:25 PM

tried to get money or credit back from ticketweb. unhelpful of course. told me they would "email the ticket client."

i'm all for helping out a charity but not under false pretenses. the original billing said Superfly was aka TV on the Radio, now it implies Superfly is just the lead singer of TV on the Radio, not the band. Obviously the event organizer misled a lot of people and is now trying to sweep the mistake under the carpet.

for $30 a piece at two ticket limit its easy for a buyer to make the mistake that a band of that stature would be playing that small venue, especially given the short timeframe of when they went on sale to the actual date of show.

Posted by Ben Whiner | August 16, 2008 7:46 PM

If theyre not playing i wont buy their next album i can tell you that.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 7:48 PM

from what I've heard, the band (tvotr) was supposed to play, something happened from their label's end, and now they're not. sucks, but i wouldn't mind seeing gang gang dance crew play with tunde. it's for charity, so i don't mind paying.

dragons of z are good live, too. don't know who the other members of simply fly are, though.

Posted by iko-iko | August 17, 2008 9:55 PM

The Ticketweb listing said "Simply Fly (aka TV on the Radio)". Charity or not, if it's not TV On the Radio they need to offer refunds.
