TundeTundeTunde

SFOTE (tonight's charity) tells me that...

The original lineup of "Simply Fly" had to change due to a LOT of major unforseen scheduling and logistical problems that apparently came up on Friday evening. Everything else on the bill is the same, and the late-night party is in place, as well.

We are down to give anyone who purchased tix in advance a chance to get a refund... they should contact Ticketweb for refund information, just spoke with them and gave the OK for anyone who wants a refund before the show tonight to get one immediately.

But I'm hopeful that you can stress that as the event is for a great cause (helping pay for kids' transportation for school in Trinidad-- 100% of the door goes directly to the recipients in need), we hope people will still come out and support the great crew of musicians that are on the bill this evening!

The bill now reads, "performances by SIMPLY FLY: TUNDE ADEBIMPE (TV on the Radio), RYAN SAWYER (Tall Firs, Eye Contact, Stars Like Fleas,) and LIZZI BOUGATSOS (Gang Gang Dance) will be performing along with DRAGONS OF ZYNTH, KANENG LOLANG, and the BROOKLYN JUMBIES (stilt dancing/fire breathing/traditional african drum and dance troupe)."

TV on the Radio's next NYC shows are at the Masonic Temple. Tickets for those shows are on sale.

Too bad-- looks like the joke is on me for defending the sketchy nature of this show when it was announced.

Sounds like an honest mistake, I guess. Don't know if its worth $30 now, but hopefully the whole event doesnt fall apart-- seems like a worthy cause.

santos party house sucks big time. all their shows get cancelled.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 11:00 AM

That is a bummer.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 11:13 AM

umm duh bv. the masonic temple shows are already sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 11:18 AM

how the hell do you "contact" ticketweb?

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 11:18 AM

This is an awesome cause. Money well spent.

The original lineup of "Simply Fly" had to change due to the fact that TV on the Radio didn't want to play crappy Santos Party House.

Refund now, please.

I must find the perfect spoon.

Just spoke with the nice folks over at SFOTE-- they're sorry for all the confusion, and gave me the number for Ticketweb: 866-468-7619

HOWEVER, Ticketweb is still working on confirming all the info internally. The woman on the phone said to call back this afternoon-- refunds will be available, but not at the moment.

For those of you who ARE going-- SFOTE woman said that the "show" portion (including Tunde, Dragons of Z et al) will last from roughly 9pm-12am, with the DJ portion afterwards.

Lets make the best of it, kids....

thanks a roach . . . very helpful . . . an odd occurrence for this site.

Still going. It's $30 for a nice sounding charity and it's all night.

And how is this Santo's fault when it seems like the band couldn't coordinate their schedule for the night? Haters.

I like the venue, sound is great and have seen great shows/parties there. Only other show that got cancelled was Sam Sparro, and that was because of HIS visa issues.

santos party house can eat my smelly vagina. that place sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 11:56 AM

OVERRATED.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 12:10 PM

They're issuing refunds now. Just got mine. Call Ticketweb.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 12:40 PM

just got me refund... what a let down... especially since the 2 shows are Sold Out.... sounds like a road trip to Philly.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 12:52 PM

tickets for the sold out shows are sure to go up on craigslist soon.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 12:59 PM

anyone who gives money to a charity and then asks for a refund is a pig and lame. Sorry the band you like is not playing but it's not about that. !00% of the door goes to an amazing charity. You basically put $30 in the hand of a needy child's education and then took it away.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 1:18 PM

you know what anon 1:18, i'm sorry but you are wrong. i'd much rather to give directly to the charity then waste $12 for the ticketweb fee for a show i have no desire to see anymore.

Awesome Jeff! Here is all the info you need so you can give directly to the charity. I hope more people will follow your lead.

done. thanks for the link.

I'm calling bullshit

announce that TVOTR is playing and then retract at the last minute. Sounds like cleaver marketing to take advantage of the hundreds of people who won't hear about them not actually playing. There will be tons of pissed-off people showing up to this show.
Thankfully ticketweb is not hassling refunds for those of us that found out in time.

what a load a shit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 4:23 PM

if that's the case, i'm back in.

Posted by Anonymous | August 18, 2008 4:46 PM

So did anyone actually go to this or did everyone get a refund?

Posted by BTW | August 19, 2008 9:20 AM

they actually played for about 90 minutes in a tucked away room to a crowd of maybe thirty people tops... simply wow.
