I just have a strange little question and thought I'd put it here because there are less comments on this post...
I went to APW Friday and my friend thought it was awesome that Radiohead played Abdel halim hafez right after their set ended. Does anyone know if they played him after their Saturday set? Maybe Jonny/Thom are really into arabic music right now.
Posted by Samuel Newhouse | August 11, 2008 12:26 AM
I believe they did on Saturday too. I was telling a friend that it sounded like something you'd hear at a Bar Mitzvah.
Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2008 12:54 AM
2 Skinnee J's at Irving tonight was incredible!
Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2008 1:01 AM
They paid Jack Johnson $1 million to play Sunday's APW show. I'm not joking.

"us rep is like 'russia must know that regime change through force will no longer be acceptable.'"
Say what? The fighting there is over territory*, not to bring about a change of regime.
*I know, that's an oversimplification.

Actually, from what I've read, it's the other way around.

Georgia did attack Russia
"Actually, from what I've read, it's the other way around."
^^--You are misinformed my friend
Georgia did attack Russia and were backed by the US though good luck finding that in the controlled american press.
I spoke to someone who lives in the Ukraine this morning and got the real scoop.
Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2008 3:41 PM

In an effort to keep a break away republic from breaking away, the Georgians attached the break away republic, not Russia. Russia, then, as siding with the break away Gerogian republic, attacked Georgia. Russia has been trying to provoke the Gerogians for months so they, the Russians, would have an excuse to attack Georgia - which they have now done.
Fuck your friend in the Ukraine. They're probably next on Russia's agenda.
Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2008 5:51 PM
^^^
Fuck my friend in the Ukraine?? You're an IDIOT....
You better pay attention to the US agenda there buddy.....all of this ties into Iraq and oil.
War games were just completed of the coast of Virginia which included the US, UK, Italy, Brazil and a few other countries and now those ships are headed to the middle east.
When the draft happens I'm sure you'll be the first one headed to Canada.

While I am not about to choose a side in this war based only on the online news reports I have read, I don't doubt that Vladimir Putin is a very bad man.
Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 1:48 AM
Anon 6:30 pm, you've got real shit for brains.
The farther Russia's tanks roll into Georgia, the more the world is beginning to see the reality of Vladimir Putin's Napoleonic ambitions. Having consolidated his authoritarian transition as Prime Minister with a figurehead President, Mr. Putin is now pushing to reassert Russian dominance in Eurasia. Ukraine is in his sights, and even the Baltic states could be threatened if he's allowed to get away with it. The West needs to draw a line at Georgia.
Posted by Anonymous | August 12, 2008 9:17 AM
^^Ha! You sound like a neo-con!!
What do you think The Bush administration is doing with Iraq and soon Iran? And that's ok? Why do you think Russia is backing Iran?
Seems you don't have the intelligence to see the big picture.

Dear Anon 9:17am:
The farther United States tanks roll into Iraq and soon Iran, the more the world is beginning to see the reality of the Bush Administration's Napoleonic ambitions. Having consolidated his authoritarian transition as Dictator with a figurehead President, Mr. Bush is now pushing to reassert United States dominance in the middle east. Iran is in his sights, and even the Baltic states could be threatened if he's allowed to get away with it. Russia needs to draw a line.

From Neo-Con Obama:
"I want to just speak briefly about the situation in Georgia. It’s a situation that continues to deteriorate because of Russia’s escalation of the use of military force. At this point I have spoken to President Saakashvili, and conveyed my deep regret over the loss of life, and the suffering of the people of Georgia.
No matter how this conflict started, Russia has escalated it well beyond the dispute over South Ossetia and has now violated the space of another country. Russia has escalated its military campaign through strategic bombing and the movement of its ground forces into the heart of Georgia. There is no possible justification for these attacks.
I reiterate my call for Russia to stop its bombing campaign, to stop flights of Russian aircraft in Georgian airspace, and to withdraw its ground forces from Georgia. The Georgian government has proposed a cease-fire and the Russian government should accept it. There is also an urgent need for humanitarian assistance to reach the people of Georgia, and casualties on both sides."
11:28/11:22: Both complete idiots.
