MILEY CYRUS OPENS HER SWEET 16 TO THE PUBLIC

'HANNAH MONTANA' STAR WILL MAKE 5,000 TIX AVAILABLE FOR $250

August 22, 2008

If you have $250 and a lot of luck, you can help Miley Cyrus celebrate her Sweet 16 this fall.

The singer/TV-and-movie-star will throw a party titled Miley's Sweet 16 -- Share The Celebration at Disneyland on Sunday, Oct. 5. She's inviting 5,000 of her biggest fans (or at least fans with the easiest access to their parents' credit cards) to join her.

"I only turn 16 once, so it's going to be an awesome party with my favorite rides, hanging out with friends, fireworks and more," the "Hannah Montana" star says in a statement. "I'll even get to sing a couple songs."

Cyrus is correct that you only turn 16 once, though to be perfectly fair, the mega-selling recording artist won't actually be turn 16 herself, at least not at the Disneyland bash. Cyrus won't actually be legally able to get behind the wheel of a car until Nov. 23, but the public probably won't get an Evite to that party.

Tickets, priced at $250, go on sale at 9 a.m. PDT, Saturday, Aug. 30, at http://www.disneyparks.com/miley.

As part of the festivities, Disney Parks will make what is described as "a significant contribution" to Youth Service America, an organization that seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people, ages 5 to 25, serving as volunteers.

"The best part of the party is we're going to recognize some really cool kids from Youth Service America who are giving back to their community," Cyrus says. "That's so awesome because I think it's really important for kids like us to volunteer."

Be sure to bring your cameras, because you never know what Cyrus might do.

Patti Smith was great!

I agree, I left the pool and got to lincoln center in time to get a good spot in 5th row. It was funny when she did Smells Like Teen spirit and people near me were what is that song, sounds fimiliar... but fucking amazing, it amazes me that in 2008 two of the best bands/performers you could ever see are Iggy Pop and Patti Smith, both in their 60s? and going strong.
