The Dodos

Despite having one sick member, San Francisco's the Dodos played their scheduled show with Portland's Au (pronounced "Ay-You") at Spiegelworld in NYC last night (9/29) They did have to cancel the secret show they were going to play tonight (9/30) at Death by Audio though, and the not-secret one they were planning on playing in Northampton on Wednesday. All other tour dates are still on. More pictures from last night's show below...

BEAUTIFUL Pictures!

Second time I've seen them in New York, and they were REALLY energetic. Tight as hell. And Meric was singing just wonderfully - never would have guessed he had mono 'til I spoke to Logan afterwards.

Logan mentioned they'll be back in December as an opener at Bowery Ballroom. I'll be there!

I should take back my first comment about them playing Bowery. According to their myspace it's Brooklyn Masonic Temple on Dec 16th, opening for The Walkmen. Though Logan did say Bowery... dunno. I imagine it's hard to remember every venue when you've got about 50 shows ahead of you.

Spiegel!!!!

fun venue but expensive ($20) plus tap beers $8.00 -- wtf?

Thanks for sharing the news of the Dodos returning in December Will! I had slight doubts about last night's show being able to compare to the very intimate Cake Shop one, but I was wrong to doubt the Dodos, they were great. Last night's version of The Season was amazing. Can't wait to see them again in December.

DODOS + WALKMEN

BEST BILL OF THE YEAR?!?!??!?!?!??!

"what was the first encore song? was that a cover?"

I'm pretty sure Meric said that was a new song they were working on. How about the very first song they played... it was a bit more stripped down and bluesy. Was that a cover?

first song of encore was indeed an untitled new song which sounded pretty awesome. 1st song played was off their beware of the maniacs record. next nyc show at the temple is going to be a great double bill. see you there!

The first song of the set was not a cover, pretty sure it was "The Ball" off their album, Beware of the Maniacs.

i seriously must be the only person that hates the dodos. boring, uninspired, unoriginal. that show was not anything better/different. too bad mono can't incapacitate one's ability to play guitar....
