Last night the new venue hosted friends, family and press to test out the sound system with full sets by The Mugs and Tim Fite, and shother performances by Alina Simone, Sharon Van Etten, Mia Riddle, comedian Eugene Mirman, New Pornographer Carl ("AC") Newman, members of Takka Takka (Conrad), members of the National (Bryan), and members of Nada Surf.
Tickets are now on sale for more upcoming shows at the Bell House including Liam Finn/The Veils, The Rosebuds/Ladybug Transistor/Crystal Stilts, AC Newman, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival and Department of Eagles.

It's a really nice venue. Big and wide, sort of like how Tramps was, but way better. I thought the sound was good. And a large selection of canned beer, for what it's worth. I look forward to seeing more shows there.

Anyone know the times tonight? How late will it go?

The taps in the show room (not pictured here) included both Allagash White and Smuttynose IPA--and were generous 16 ounce servings. Then as I was leaving I discovered that other room with many more tap beers. It will be good to drink/rock in Gowanus.
And Tim Fite was fun.

Start at 8:00, or say they're starting at 8:00 and mosey on stage at quarter after 9?
Better question: When do you estimate Matt Pond PA will start?

"How were The Mugs? I hear the band name alot but never much about them."
see article:
'Park Slope's influence was definitely present in the lineup, with soft indie group The Mugs opening. Vaguely likeable and just as forgettable, The Mugs warmed up the stage for the absurdist antics of singer Tim Fite.'

"is the bell house all ages?"
Let's hope not. I think it is primarily a bar, so it may be 21+

They blended the look with a rockers’ vibe, which was a natural match given the coarse language and hard drinking favored by some rock stars.
They even named their cocktails named after seminal indie albums, such as a Pinkerton, a pineapple, mango vodka bracer with seltzer and cranberry juice (it’s also a record by Weezer, but you knew that).
The venue has a large performance space for live music or comedy, like Union Hall. But unlike its sister saloon, which was hammered by neighbors for allegedly being too noisy, Bell House will probably not receive such complaints.
“We’re in the industrial Gowanus. It’s the best of both worlds. We’re a block from the subway, but there’s not a neighbor to complain,” said Crane.
