Boris @ SSS

Postponed one day due to rain, Boris brought the rock to a tourist-filled South Street Seaport in NYC on Sunday night (from about 7:45 - 9:00 pm to be exact) (Sept 7, 2008). There were many Boris fans in attendance too - the tourists mostly stuck to the side. More pictures below...

WOW Chris...if Boris' management knew these pictures existed, they'd be calling you up to license or buy them. Stupendous job!

Posted by blackhat | September 8, 2008 3:10 PM

Please, 3:08.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 3:13 PM

3:08 is so misinformed its not even funny.

that said, ive seen boris before and i just dont/cant get into it...loudest show ever btw.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 3:16 PM

Boris has been slaying since around 1992, so, in summary 3:08, fuck. Off.

devin the dude had the raunchiest rhymes i've heard outside of a luke skywalker tape...pretty funny to see all the tourists eating lunch on the balcony with dude talking about "pussy lips smiling at me," etc. also, flying lotus is the shit.

Which one is Boris?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:02 PM

The best band to play hasn't even been mentioned. Can the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble get some love?? They're only a brass ensemble of brothers (minus the drummer) whose father, Philip Cohran, played with Sun Ra.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:19 PM

Hot Leg are the new Darkness.

Posted by bill p | September 8, 2008 5:30 PM

oh please, hypnotic brass band ensemble is just the darkness 2008

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:32 PM

Vivian Girls are obviously the Darkness of 2008, guys.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:38 PM

What did that combo bass-guitar thing sound like? Looks awesome. Never saw a dual instrument like that before. Double-necked guitar - check. Double-necked bass - check. But never one of each.

Posted by Dfactor | September 8, 2008 5:43 PM

you guys, obviously you are misinformed, because the darkness are the darkness of 2008. jesus

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:43 PM

that was a fucking awesome show.

I mean, it's to be expected, but Boris still rocks every time.

Also, I'm still bitter about missing Crystal Stilts due to that damn line for the "venue"

Aa killed it also tho.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 5:57 PM

Dudes... I can't believe we let Atsuo fall... dudes.... I had his leg... we just needed some more back support!

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 6:42 PM

I've seen them perform with Michio Kurihara three times since they began touring with him (this is the first NYC Boris show I've missed in some years), and I think he's worn that same shirt each and every time.

Either way, I love the layer of texture he adds to Boris.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 6:59 PM

Agreed... Michio adds so much to Boris
Also...GHOST! His main band.

And White Heaven (90's, he recorded on OUT)

And The Stars.

And his solo album, Sunset Notes

If anyone dug him live and don't know him, check out all that shit!

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 7:13 PM

what the fuck is the darkness?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 7:14 PM

yes, I also wanted to catch Crystal stilts - but went over at 5:30 and saw that long line and went back to main stage.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 8:16 PM

ya seriously, what is this darkness you folk are talking about?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 9:43 PM

I was there. BORIS was fucking great!

It's sad when the first comment it's as stupid as that one. Gee, The Darkness sucks, Boris rocks. Simple.

Posted by dee | September 8, 2008 10:25 PM

You know those guitars that are, like, double guitars?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 11:21 PM

anyone know the name of the last song/noise jam that boris played? where can i find that?

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:29 AM

the darkness is the darkness of 2008. comeback, baby.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:54 AM

The last song Boris played was the Untitled track from Smile.

God I absolutely love seeing Boris live.

Oh and that Bass/Guitar sounded FIERCE.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:21 PM

So i guess we're not gettin those KRS pics?

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 2:40 PM

I'm a hater as much as any asshole, but these pictures are gorgeous and Boris are worth all the hype they have been receiving since PINK.

Saw the Darkness...hated the crowd so god damn much I couldn't enjoy myself.

I have that same problem at TV on the Radio shows.
