Fender

I asked an Edison Glass representative how the Long Island band got on this bill of guitar legends (that now also includes Lee Ranaldo). They replied, "You're the millionth person to ask. Fender loves them, so they put them on."

I have one pair of tickets for tonight's sold out show at Knitting Factory in NYC. To win....

...email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM (subject: Fender). Include your first and last name. One winner will be chosen randomly and contacted ASAP.

anyone have an idea of set times?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 11:09 AM

is it sold out otherwise?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 11:16 AM

R-A-N-A-L-D-O. His name is Lee RANALDO. There is no "e" in Ranaldo.

F-I-X-E-D, thanks!

Posted by brooklynvegan | September 12, 2008 11:20 AM

i hope its not awkward like some jam session...all those guys have the potential to wank it up even if they are legends.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 11:28 AM

Posted by pantieParty | September 12, 2008 12:30 PM

Any idea of Set times?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 1:03 PM

Could this be the Jammy's of Jazzy's?? I hope not. Says all spaces does that mean I get to see Tom Verlaine at the tap bar?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 2:19 PM

i join the question: Any idea of set times? BV??

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:01 PM

call the knit box office set time askers. they will know.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:03 PM

Why do people always ask about set times? Rock n roll doesn't follow a schedule, mannnn. If a band goes over, the next band goes on later. If a band decides to play a short set, the next band starts sooner.

Follow this formula - the venue will announce what time the event starts (in this case, 8). Assume that the first performer goes on promptly at 8 (for giggles). Then assume that each band after that goes on in one hour intervals.

Then use your magic 8 ball / ouija board / crystal ball to see if a band has played a long or short set.

OR...show up on time and stay for the whole damned show!

Posted by lori | September 12, 2008 3:26 PM

lori, honey -

(a) some of us have all sorts of commitments and cannot show up at 8. hence the questions. i won't cry over missing edison glass, but missing parts of moore's/mascis's/verlaine's contributions to the evening would be regrettable.

(b) "assume that the first performer goes on at 8" -- yeah, but the question is, who *is* the first performer going to be?

(c) thanks for the mini-lecture on rock'n'roll. that was illuminating. i know more about rock'n'roll now than i did before.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:38 PM

no, really. call the box office.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:53 PM

one more person calls the box office Im gonne come over there and strangle you!

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:57 PM

any chance you can get an extra outside?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 3:58 PM

to all the people calling the box office: what are they saying?

showing up at 7 or 8 is for suckers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 4:03 PM

wow! lori that was enlightening. Could you also expound on the Bush doctrine...err...i mean the Bush worldview?

seriously, this is not a typical show with "bands". Its Verlaine/Moore/Ranaldo/Mascis/and Cline ...some of us are curious about the format of the show...spare me your rant...

Posted by anon | September 12, 2008 4:03 PM

I'll have an extra outside...so you can buy mine.

So What time does LORI go on?? HA

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 7:01 PM

Whenever rock and roll tells her to.

Posted by Philip | September 13, 2008 9:27 AM

We once played a gig with a band NAMED Lori -- at Andyman's Treehouse in Columbus Ohio.

Posted by greg | September 13, 2008 10:54 AM

"some of us have all sorts of commitments and cannot show up at 8. hence the questions."

Your comment makes no sense. If you cannot show up at 8, why do you care who plays first? You can't see it, so why worry?

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 11:27 AM

what a amazing special night

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 11:46 AM

anyone has j mascis's setlist? (i understand he was playing actual songs...)

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 12:16 PM

Started off with two songs from More Light (forgot the names of the songs, haven't pulled out that CD in years).

Then they played another 4 (maybe 5?) songs. One was "Get Me".

Dave Schools on bass was absolutely incredible.

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 12:48 PM

"There is no "e" in Ranaldo."

What about Renaldo and the Loaf?

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | September 13, 2008 1:03 PM

that show was pretty incredible

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 1:14 PM

The show was very far from incredible. Mascis as others have said ripped it but the others not so much. Kind of boring actually. Was expecting something a lot more special. You got some real tools on here with no sense of what is truly great.

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 2:45 PM

Renaldo and the Loaf is truly great.

FUCK YOU SNAKEFINGER!!!

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | September 13, 2008 5:40 PM

what about nels

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 6:00 PM

There was really nothing to complain about if your expectations were correct when you got there. Verlaine did the same boring crap he has been doing for 10 years. The SY set could have been longer and contained at least SOME melody. Their set was the only disappointed of the night. Nels set was great, but only because of the pairing with Norton Wisdom. Very nice. J ripped it like always, he was never one to noodle. Dave Schools of Widespread Panic ripped it up on bass.

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 8:09 PM

Who won the guitar they gave away god dammit? Mascis blew the rest were great! Well, T.V. blew.

Posted by Anonymous | September 13, 2008 8:59 PM

J Mascis + The Fog setlist:

Ammaring / Same Day / Set Us Free / Get Me / Thumb / Alone

encore:

The Lung

Posted by SpiderWisdom | September 14, 2008 2:41 AM

mascis was AWESOME friday...everything else totally sucked...i sat down on the elevated platform on the top floor until 12am.

my friend said it best...verlaine may love his experimental side but he became FAMOUS for television...if all he ever did was his atmospheric wank, no one would give him any billing at all.

i havent really been interested in dinosaur jr since they reformed. personally, i grew up with the 2nd wave of dinosaur...and despite 'you're living' being their best, 'where you been' is a very close second. to hear 'thumb' and 'get me,' made me feel like i was 13 and running to record store to pick up 'without a sound'...god what a terrible record that was.

Posted by Anonymous | September 14, 2008 3:21 AM

BUY AMERICAN ONLY.

Posted by GW | September 14, 2008 8:42 AM

well yeah, if you were 13 Mascis was great.

Posted by Anonymous | September 14, 2008 10:46 AM
