Franz Ferdinand have finished work on their third album, which is "very much a dance record", the band have said."Musical Group" (Franz Ferdinand) is playing "Small Venue New York" (Music Hall of Williamsburg) on Wednesday October 8th. Tickets are on sale.Their last album, You Could Have It So Much Better, came out three years ago.
"The last record was fast, furious, frantic, 150 beats per minute. It was like a teenager having sex," singer Alex Kapranos told BBC News.
"This one's a bit more assured and a bit friendlier for the dancefloor. It's about 104/105bpm," Kapranos said. The untitled album is due early in 2009. [BBC]

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 12:24 PM
You guys are total hypocrits. You think nobody is going to buy tickets to resell? Just because you don't have the capital to invest don't put others down. Go for it dude, make some bucks!

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 2:18 PM
you guys really are going to this?
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 2:21 PM
I'm Jewish, and I'll be going to this. I can worship while enjoying the music of Franz Ferdinand.
Posted by Robert | September 26, 2008 2:22 PM
What is so important about Judaism that practitioners of said religion think the world should revolve around them?
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 2:22 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 2:22 PM

Capitalist? asshole is more like it. Capitalism seems to be working fine huh? Just make sure you lock your doors and hide under your bed when your capitalism fails. Something tells me you'ld be the first one under.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 3:43 PM
they're playing the same venue the night before anyway.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 3:46 PM
3:31 is an angry capitalist vegan jewish fat girl who read this post too late to get tickets
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 3:48 PM
hey 3:46, what do you mean they are playing the same venue the night before?? please explain.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 4:01 PM
3:31 reminds me of the angry folks who missed out on Sigur Ros at MOMA. It's just a concert, get over it.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 4:11 PM
amen 4:11, they are playing this as one off show, i'm sure they will be back soon when they announce the release date
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 4:50 PM
Anon 3:46 is just trying to screw with the people scalping by lying and saying they are going to be playing the night before as well. Not true at all. This is a one off show.
That being said these amateur scalpers aint gonna make shit. Almost half the people buying tickets to the show today had the same genius idea these dopes had. To buy tickets to scalp. It is going to be the same thing as the MGMT halloween show. There is going to be a glut of tickets for sale and no one is gonna make anything. Supply will most surely outweigh demand. The fucking show took almost 3 hours to sell out.
SO if you did not get a ticket. Just relax. Wait till a day or 2 before the show and there will be plenty of tix available.
And to Anon's 4:11 and 4:50, yes they will come back and play again but like Sigur Ros, the shows will be at much bigger venues and not as good as this one. As we all know, Sigur Ros at Grand Ballroom and to a much smaller extent MOMA were really special shows that the recent United Palace ones could not hold a candle to. I mean yes they are just concerts but why are you on a music blog then if a show is just a show to you.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 5:15 PM
Tickets will be available as the show nears. It is always the case with Bowery related shows. Always. You just have to be on ticketmaster at just the right time, but if I were you I'd begin hitting F5 at noon the day of the show. Trust me
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 5:25 PM
anon 3:46 - i heard the same thing, they're playing a benefit the night before at music hall.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 5:50 PM
Anon 3:46 and 5:50-LIES
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 6:16 PM
This is, just like their show at Bowery last summer, a one-off show.
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 6:21 PM
last year's show had a much better discussion thread. to wit: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2007/06/franz_ferdinand_14.html
Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2008 6:58 PM
fuck this 18+ crap.
2nd time franz! seriously!?
Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2008 9:35 AM
Can someone link me to pics of the fat girls onstage with Franz Ferdinand?
Posted by Regular reader | September 27, 2008 9:50 AM
5:15, the very fact that you had to explain that shows that these scalpers will find a market. You're right, of course-- even a ton of MBV tickets were going for face value in the days before Roseland. But people don't know that, and people like to make sure they are going to see bands they really like. A lot of people also have too much money to spend.
Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2008 9:55 AM
seeing that Music Hall is a fraction the size of Roseland, i dont think scalpers will have any trouble selling tickets.
Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2008 10:59 AM
I CANTTTT WAITTTT TO SEE THEM IN BROOKLYN!!!
never got the chance to see Franz Ferdinand Live!
one of my Favorite bands all time.
