i stopped by at 12 and there was still a stack about 4 inches high at the cashier.

That picture doesn't look like it was taken at McCarren Pool.

Any chance these will be around after work the work day?

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 1:13 PM

it was. it's from the sonic youth show.

1:13:

Exactly who are you asking this question to?

Why don't you call up Other Music and ask them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 1:28 PM

Just got em and it looked like they still had plenty left.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 1:52 PM

I guess it was a good choice to make this a free show then.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 2:58 PM

got em around 4 and it looks like, still, a giant stack.

however, the ticket says it's subject to capacity and does not guarantee entry.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 7:42 PM

yeah, what does that mean?
that you may not get in with a ticket?
then why give them out at all?
doesn't make any sense to me.
will there be angry people outside with tickets?
strange

Posted by gregory | September 3, 2008 7:52 PM

it means they'll give out more tickets than they can fill to guarantee a full house.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 7:57 PM

I stopped by at 7:30 pm and they still had tickets available

Posted by anonymous | September 3, 2008 9:49 PM

I can vouch that there was not an overprint on tickets. Venues have to put that text as a rule on tix for some reason--- everyone who gets an advance ticket should get in without any problem.

oh great. now we've got brian turner posting on brooklynvegan.

Were there still tickets available around store closing time last night? I'd like to grab one today.

we love wfmu!

Posted by Anonymous | September 4, 2008 4:26 PM

Update: Other Music is starting to run low I am told, but a bit more coming tonight, would probably try to go get em in the next 2 days if you want tix. thanks everybody.

WFMU - thanks! Looking forward to it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 4, 2008 7:21 PM

got 2 tickets this evening, thanks WFMU!!

Posted by jay | September 4, 2008 10:41 PM

why give them out at all?
doesn't make any sense to me.

Posted by tickets | September 5, 2008 6:57 AM

im not an organizer but i assume the tickets are being given out so people can know they are getting into this free show without standing on line at irving plaza the day of the show for hours and possibly not get in. just makes things a bit more convenient for everyone involved i imagine.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 8:08 AM

Because WFMU is hoping to avoid thousands of people and the cops that will be needed outside at Irving Place to deal with that? Pre-ticketing seems completely logical, and people who go out of their way to get them at Other obviously will care most about going. Nice that they won't have to deal with a line.
