Indian Jewelry

Friday night (September 19) Indian Jewelry played the Knitting Factory in NYC with Talk Normal, Lau Nau and Mira Billotte (of Quix*o*tic & White Magic). How was the show? Lori was there to capture the action. More pictures below....

Indian Jewelry was amazing, but there were very few people there.

Loved Indian jewelry -- confrontational, strobe-lit, vicious, tribal, hypnotic. Huge swaths of deathy dancy psych noise. I was happily stunned/overwhelmed after their set; I didn't even want an encore.
I thought Talk Normal and Mira were great too. Talk Normal's drummer was terrific, probably the discovery of the night for me. And Mira Bilotte had this great minimalist reverbed-out keening going on; her last song killed it, "New Egypt" I think it was called.
Lau Nau were okay but too sleepy/wind-up-toy twee for me. Great contrast and respite from Talk Normal, so I suppose in that capacity they worked.
All in all one of the strongest 4-band bills I've seen recently. Surprised there weren't more folks there.

i was surprised at the lack-o-crowd too. lau nau was sweet. mira bilotte held her own without the guitarist.
