I think it's funny that the people that hate Jay actually know the guy and the people who stick up for him are just fans that have never seen him all fucked up and being a douchebag and constantly trying to be the center of attention by doing stupid, gay or mean things. He's punched way more people at shows than what you see on Youtube and he's ditched way more shows than the one you read about on all the blogs.

I don't think I've ever been in a conversation where people who actually know Jay Reatard were talking about him where the phrase "huge asshole" didn't come up.
It used to be that his music was solid enough to almost make you forget how much of a self-obsessed, childish piece of shit he his, but these days his new stuff is just so weak that it's looking pretty grim for Jay's career.

jay reatard ain't punk, thank god. the kind of music people define as punk is even more terrible than the stuff people describe as "indie rock".
