Jose Gonzalez played The Yard & ACL (pics)
Photos by Kyle Dean Reinford

"Our first stop was the Sweet Leaf Tea booth to show our text message coupons for a free tea. Then over to Old 97s. We sat near the back so we could make an easy retreat in time for Jose Gonzalez. That was another good show, but we keep wondering how come we sit down and then every pot smoker and cigarette smoker in Austin comes and sits near us. It's some kind of strange attraction!" [The Tsarina's Journal]Jose Gonzalez went from playing two shows in Austin on Saturday to playing one in Brooklyn for NY Magazine on Sunday at The Yard. How was the NY show (that UCB also performed at)? He's now probably home resting, but will be back in NYC in December to play BAM. All dates, past and present, are HERE. More pictures from his official ACL festival set, below...

Jose Gonzalez is one of my favorite songwriters. He capture me like few artists do. Sadly, I couldn't make the Yard show, but with that setting and the UCB opening, I could imagine how it was- great.

It was a great, intimate show. It started to rain as Jose played "Teardrop." Perfection!

The Yard was awesome. Good music, comedy, and all the free mojitos and beer one could hope for.

The Yard show was ideal. The setting was lovely - campfire, 'smores, free asahi-vodka-vita water (thanks, Glaceau!). The crowd was very attentive and respectful. Jose sounded perfect. I can't imagine a better setting for his music. The UCB stories were funny - theme was summer memories and mostly involved embarrassing teen events - getting drunk, losing virginity, etc. Loved the entire event. The only negative was the ridiculous food line. I gave up when I realized how little the line had moved in the 15 minutes I stood there.
