Oasis

...there will be a whole slew of musicians singing the same tune in the Big Apple on Friday, as the performers will be covering nothing but new Oasis songs in various locations as a special promotion around the band's not-so-secret NYC show the same night at Terminal 5.

The band's label tells Spinner that one of the Gallagher brothers may even be making a surprise appearance with one of the acts, who are volunteers from MTA's Music Under New York Program... [Spinner]

The non-injured one maybe?

It's funny, I never see any self-proclaimed hipsters around here. Just those trashing the likes...

First rule of being a hipster is not admitting you are a hipster.

official info on this:

Sadly, Oasis cannot perform in New York tomorrow night. However you can still see songs from their new album performed live.

Friday September 12th will see street musicians performing four new tracks from 'Dig Out Your Soul'. At various locations in the city, including Grand Central Station and Times Square, the songs 'Bag It Up', 'The Turning', '(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady' along with forthcoming single 'The Shock Of The Lightning' will be performed by acts ranging from 'Shred Violin' to 'Double Bass Rock'.

The event is being sponsored by the city of New York.

“We are excited that Oasis has chosen to not only launch their album in New York City, but also to enlist the help of our talented and diverse street musicians,” said George Fertitta, CEO, NYC & Company.

“Considering the fact that some of the most internationally-celebrated musical performers of this Century have had their start right here on our streets, there could not be a more fitting place for this to happen than New York City, and we encourage New Yorkers and visitors alike to take the opportunity to see these unreleased songs performed for the fist time on our City streets.”

The performances will be filmed by renowned music video directors The Malloys and produced by BBH. A full list of performers and locations can be found at www.nycvisit.com/oasis along with initial footage from the day which will be available to view from 6pm (EST).
