Low - more ATP pics, NYC shows Monday & Tuesday (tix)
photos by Zach Dilgard
watching Low @ Kutscher's

Low play one very intimate and one formerly-very intimate (but still intimate) show in NYC tonight and tomorrow. Tickets are still on sale for the second one AND tickets are back on sale for the first. This past weekend they played a set at the ATP festival at Kutscher's. More pictures from that below....

wouldnt you consider bell house "intimate?" Sure, it holds more than the tiny Union Hall, but it doesnt look like its any bigger than the mercury lounge.

We crossed paths with a disappointed Low when we found them dejectedly leaving Cohen's Bakery on Broadway on Sunday afternoon. Apparently Cohen's was all out of bagels. Too bad for Low they didn't join us at Acatlan Mexican Deli across the street, the best surprise food find of the weekend.

Anyone know if there is an opener tonight or what time Low will actually go on?

There's no opener, that's why it's called "An Evening with Low." Supposed to be a longer than usual set, small etc.

Low's set was my fave. A classy performance, with some of the funniest banter I've heard in between sets.
"They're ALL Halloween songs."
Fantastic.

His comment about security having the easiest weekend of their lives "all these white people" was funny too.

Mercury Lounge show was good. Low went on a little late, but played for slightly over 2 hours, with a little intermission in the middle. They played a loud, scary "new Christmas song" which was called something like "Santa Claus Is Coming Back" and was indeed a Halloweenesque anti-carol. The band all seemed in a good mood as well.
One minor complaint: would it have killed someone at ML to spring for a can of oil for that squeaky door between the bar and the concert space, before the Low show?
But beally I've got no right to gripe about anything, since only one bearded reject started chatting with us for the sole purpose of casually dropping the URL to his blog. Could've been a lot worse. So there's that.
