I got two tix at the next level up from GA, but they seem to be on the floor. Anyone know what's up?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 10:57 AM

back of floor isnt GA - thats my guess

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 10:59 AM

GA is sections 1-4 (no seats), next level is sections 5-8 (seated), third level is sections 9-12 (seated).

Neil Young two nights in a row (Dec 15 & 16)followed by Oasis (Dec 17 & 18). December is going to be awesome!

Speaking of Oasis, anyone hear their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul'? It's fucking mega.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 12:47 PM

How can you guys spend that much $$ on these tickets??

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 12:53 PM

Umm, because they can afford it? When you get a little older you'll understand.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 1:04 PM

"How can you guys spend that much $$ on these tickets??"

They're each going to get a piece the $700 billion gov't bailout.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 1:11 PM

Yes but...$250 tickets? No one is angry with Neil Young for being so greedy? I'd love to see this show, but really...fuck him.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 1:28 PM

I have to agree on the pricing. I love Wilco and would very much love to see Neil Young live but for $250 I better get one of Neil's sideburns as a souvenir.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 1:36 PM

*Yawn* "Neil Young is so greedy" - please see similar complaints on the BV Neil Young thread from last year's shows at the United Palace Theater.

You can still get good seats at the next price level ($150) - not cheap, but cheaper. Neil Young is an American (by way of Canada) institution. There are few his age who still rock as hard and who can still come up with strong new material. And he has 4 decades of classic tunes to draw from. Throw in Wilco and you have a pretty formidable double bill. Not a cheap night on the town, but he won't be Young forever.

Posted by drewo | September 23, 2008 1:44 PM

The GA seats are 89 bucks. It's a super deal!

This is all true, but he's still a greedy fucking bastard. $150 for seats at the Garden that aren't even top quality is equally as ridiculous as the $250 seats. I love Neil and I could scrape the money together if I had to, but at some point one just has to say 'Enough!'

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 2:09 PM

Serious question - how much does Neil take home for one of these shows? If the Garden holds 12,000 or so, and the average ticket price is around $130, even after everyone else is paid it's hard to see how Neil personally walks off with less than $300,000 per night. Seriously, anybody know?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 2:14 PM

I can afford those prices but refuse to pay it. Absolutely ridiculous to pay more than $50.00 to see a concert in a fucking arena. Especially MSG which I think everybody can agree is an awful awful venue. I would pay $1000 to see Neil Young in a club before I would pay $10 to sit in the back row at MSG to see him.

And Wilco? PLEASE.

Posted by SeeYouInTea | September 23, 2008 2:50 PM

MSG is fine if you have good seats.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 2:55 PM

Mr. Young can charge whatever he wants, and I don't fault him for doing so. But I'm skipping this one, based on this price point; not to mention, at $89 minimum there'll probably be tons of old balls at this show.

Just to toss a few comps. out there, assuming anything other than GA:

1 Neil Young + 1 Wilco = at least 3+ Sigur Ros, or 2 All Points West, or 3+ Flaming Lips, or 6+ TVOTR, or 8+ Of Montreal shows.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 3:02 PM

MSG takes about $250 K off the top. Nobody makes real money playing there, but they can't resist because it's the prestige venue on the east coast.

I paid minimum for Neil tix, the difference between a $50 seat and a $150 seat is not huge and sometimes you just wanna be in the room. He was great at United Palace.

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2008 12:24 PM

anybody have the set times from last night? how was the show?

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2008 10:18 AM

set times last night:

wilco started at 840pm

neil young started at 1007pm

ended at 1235am

As far as prices, I agree that Neil charges way too much, but at MSG I buy the nosebleed seat and always seem to find a much better seat.
