Steve Reich

This Saturday and Sunday (9/13 & 9/14) at 8pm, (Le) Poisson Rouge will host one of the great works of 20th century composition, Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians," performed by "NYC's new-music supergroup" Signal and conducted by Brad Lubman. Also performed will be Reich's 2004 choral/ensemble score "You Are (Variations)." The shows are part of the Wordless Music Series, which has already hosted shows by Deerhoof and Times New Viking this year, and will continue with a full schedule through December (which includes Twi the Humble Feather at LPR October 7, Shearwater on October 20, and Stars of the Lid on November 21).
The show caps off a week of intense shows at the Village venue: Ólöf Arnalds on Tuesday, Deerhuter later on Tuesday, Living Colour (for MoveOn.org) on Wednesday, High Places and Crystal Stilts on Thursday, and Dragons of Zynth on Friday.

HI BV, hi think it's cute that you would post this here, but i doubt the kiddies will care about grandpa reich and the nyc opera, though i'd love to be proven wrong. highly doubt it though.

Thanks BV for posting the Reich Stuff.

I definitely care about Reich but I already have tickets for Saturday's performance, so I guess the post didn't do much for me.

As far as I can tell, this posting contains much more than just "Saturday's performance".

to know current music that is breaking boundaries is to know mr. reich.
if "the kiddies" don't understand that now, they will when they really dive deep into music.
i greatly appreciate BV for putting posts like this up. maybe it will make one more girl talk post go the hell away. no offense.
off i go to adventures in modern music here in chicago tomorrow. siiiiiick!

Reich has had (and continues to have) an incredible amount of influence on electronic music, so BV posting this is very relevant.

Some may care, some may don't care. You know who Reich is, good for you, some don't and maybe will learn who he is from BV. Don't be an elitist...

doesn't seem like a slam on bv, but a slam on the "kiddies" who post all the "i'd hit" comments. they don't have a clue who steve reich is.

Well, Le Poisson Rouge was packed out last night with the so-called "kiddies." The average age of the audience was well under 30. Some people in the crowd even wore those oversized hipster glasses, which means the show must have been REALLY COOL. The Wordless Music series is becoming a full-on cultural phenomenon. Hit it or quit it.

I do truly like your supreme topic! Could you create the business term paper as example? Because I do really know that a great custom writing service would compose custom essays of brilliant quality.
