Oasis @ Toronto's VFest (Kyle Gustafson)
Oasis

An on-stage attack on Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher has forced the British rock group to postpone its much-anticipated concert at the John Labatt Centre tonight [Sept 9].

A new date for the show will be announced soon, event organizer Live Nation said. Tickets for tonight's show will be honoured at the makeup date.

The attack happened Sunday night at Toronto's Virgin Fest when a man rushed at Gallagher from the back of the stage and shoved him from behind.

Gallagher fell heavily on to his monitor speakers, leaving him with injuries to his hip and ribs. He has been advised by doctors to rest. [The London Free Press]

The Terminal 5 show in NYC is still on for now. Video of the attack below...

HA-HA!

Posted by Nelson Muntz | September 9, 2008 11:36 AM

i heard (may be a rumor) that the monitor engineer yelled out to Noel..."Da Moose is Loose", but it was so loud on stage that Noel had no idea what was about to happen.

OH NO! I hope his eyebrows are okay.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 11:48 AM

publicity stunt

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 11:50 AM

The gauntlet's been thrown down, New York. How will we top this at Terminal 5?

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 11:51 AM

You're next, Liam!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 11:58 AM

they planned this. they are pathetic.

Posted by grace6697 | September 9, 2008 11:58 AM

who told you they planned this grace? i think you sound more pathetic assuming that noel planned to be attacked and injured (from behind). also, the guy who did this was thrown in jail. did he know that was going to happen to him before he went on with this planned attack.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:01 PM

I seriously doubt that they planned this.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:01 PM

looking back in anger IS sometimes a great idea

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:06 PM

Why does everything that gets a bunch of hits on YouTube have at least one person calling it fake? Noel Gallager isn't a stuntman. Any regular guy that "knew" he was about to be pushed would have looked stiff and braced for the fall.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:09 PM

why would you plan to end up in the hospital with Rib and ligament injuries?

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:09 PM

"looking back in anger IS sometimes a great idea"

brilliant

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:10 PM

If they were to have planned this, it would have been much different. a planned fight perhaps, but no one plans on being sucker shoved from behind.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:11 PM

This shit is fucked up anyway yeah Noel acts like a douchebag but he really just speaks his opinion like most people on this here website. Only difference is he owns up to and doesn't anonymously hide behind a computer screen. He didn't deserve to get attacked like that.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:12 PM

Bonehead's back and he's PISSED

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:13 PM

If someone in a shitty indie band got knocked over during a gig, they would run off stage and cry. Probably cancel the rest of their tour and watch Juno.

Oasis, brushed themselves off, returned to the stage and played 6 more songs with Noel on lead vocals for 3 of them. Let the man rest up tonight so Oasis can rock New York on Friday.

FUCK YOU HIPSTER SCUM!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:14 PM

It doesn't matter whether they planed it or not. What does matter is how we're gonna finish the job in NYC. Does anybody have 30 feet of surgical tubing, 15 cans of pepper spray and a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun?

Posted by Philip | September 9, 2008 12:15 PM

Hold me down, all the world's asleep, I need you now, you knock me off my feet

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:23 PM

"If someone in a shitty indie band got knocked over during a gig, they would run off stage and cry. Probably cancel the rest of their tour and watch Juno"

Awesome. I hate Juno, think 18 year old hipster retards who are from MN and relocate to Williamsburg, sit here and blog on their mac at Starbucks would never know the genius of Liam and Noel. Give those two their own talkshow already. NYC gig is going to rock fookin hard!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:26 PM

Why Noel, I would have chose Liam!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:30 PM

"genius of Liam and Noel"

methinks this hipster poster has been drinking too much PBR.

Posted by nygrump | September 9, 2008 12:35 PM

HE HAW

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 12:40 PM

"anyone have the presale password?"

Ha,Ha,Ha....!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:13 PM

hahaha with the Juno and Dont Look Back In Anger comments, that was awesome

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:14 PM

I'm guessing the perpetrator got the ever-loving shit beaten out of him after that stunt. Was a great laugh, though. The Gallagher Bros are complete c*nts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:16 PM

i hope this does not mean overstrict security at terminal 5, like some kind of a cordon thing. that would really be a downer for the show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:25 PM

christerjam, don't go throwing around the word faggot. got it, cunt?

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:32 PM

You're next, Coldplay

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 1:43 PM

Any chance someone will do this to a member of Dirty Projectors..god I hate them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:01 PM

Hey, does anyone know if Kyle Gustafson took that picture?

Posted by Louis Penis Cartographer | September 9, 2008 2:04 PM

I'd Hit it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:06 PM

there are a few things wrong with the attacker:

1. he is 47 years old...47!!!

2. he was HIDING under the stage, this was planned way ahead of time that he would push him..PUSH him

3. once again, a 47 year old hiding under a stage, waiting to push someone

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:12 PM

^that, and he pushed noel instead of liam.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:18 PM

what's your point 2:12? That someone hiding has to be in on it? Most attackers hide. That;s how they attack. duh.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:22 PM

What a fucking idiot.. I wish the band had beat the fuck out of him right there.

Not that I am any fan of Oasis......

Posted by spongekill | September 9, 2008 2:24 PM

>>what's your point 2:12? That someone hiding has to be in on it? Most attackers hide. That;s how they attack. duh.

no more about the patheticness of a 47 year old who would do this

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:27 PM

he wasnt hiding under the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 2:29 PM

'Be here now' is the best Oasis album.

Why the MN hate?

Posted by Chase | September 9, 2008 3:22 PM

The dude surely got some shit kicked out of him backstage - deserved it if you ask me - no one paid to see his 47 year old ass up there.

Fucking idiot

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:23 PM

Yeah total douche -

the only thing that came about from this asshole pushing Noel was, a set cut short, a on stage appearance by Paul Weller thwarted, pissed off fans of the band, a postponement of the next gig, hospital visits, assault charge...

all for 2 seconds of "look at me I"m a jackass" fame.

pathetic fucking loser needs his balls removed and any future concert attendance revoked.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:26 PM

look, oasis are obviously not making waves with their music so they say and do controversial things to keep in the news.

maybe just release some decent creative output.

Posted by grace6697 | September 9, 2008 3:27 PM

Don't forget the inevitable tighter security at other shows from now on.

Thanks fuckface!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:27 PM

Um, 3:27 pm

Oasis have ALWAYS said "controversial" things from day one - try again retard.

The new album is quite decent, but you wouldn't know as you are prolly too caught up in the latest Times New Viking shiity ass noise ep, or whatever the Williamsburg hipsters say is cool this month.

Hipster douchebag alert!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:34 PM

you're right.

i only listen to what people with bad haircuts and skinny jeans tell me to listen to.

oasis is a subpar band. bottom line.

Posted by grace6697 | September 9, 2008 3:36 PM

bristol palin is the new juno

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 3:38 PM

This guy is a hero. A hero for everyone out there that listens to music and is fed up with the crap. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. Watch your back, Coldplay.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 4:28 PM

someone already beat you to that lame joke 4:28 - try again and take off your tight jeans and white belt while you do it so your roommate can ass rape you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 4:45 PM

3:36 - you have no fucking clue what you are talking about - bottom line.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 4:46 PM

what does oasis have to do with coldplay? u obviously aren't familiar with their music. sorry they aren't hipster enough for you. they just write and perform some of the greatest rock music of our generation.

Posted by jables | September 9, 2008 4:48 PM

Oasis are great but they are no Matt and Kim.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 4:54 PM

Greatest rock music of our generation?

YOU IDIOTS!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 5:07 PM

Jarvis Cocker is 47 already?

Owns up to it?
How?
When?

Noel has never faced any retribution for anything he has said and what happened THAT night was probably unrelated, though I think of it as "what goes around, comes around": You talk shit about people but never to their faces you might as well be doing it behind their backs.

DANIEL SULLIVAN 4EVER

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 6:46 PM

Shit, no love for Oasis on here? The first post on here is about "Girl Talk". Lets put these 2 acts live, side-by-side and see what happens. Honestly, if you can't appreciate them for being great songwriters who speak their mind and don't give a shit...then I guess it's your loss. That being said, if anyone has an extra NYC pass for Oasis please let me know. mrmegwhite@aol.com

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 8:09 PM

Juno 6:31-
Go look up the Q Awards with Robbie Williams. They have no problem talking about people to their faces. Where is the support for what you're saying? You're attacking someone for not backing up their statement, but give no evidence for your claim.

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2008 8:14 PM

Yes, SOME OF the greatest rock music of our generation. My opinion. Fuck off if you have a problem with it.

Posted by jables | September 9, 2008 9:00 PM

I hate Brooklyn d bags

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 10:35 AM

i have an extra pass that i might not need, so I think if you just show up on the night you have a shot of getting in. i will sell for $60 which is price plus fees.

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 10:52 AM

is the show still on?

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 11:04 AM

Hey 10:52AM post about the possible extra ticket I will buy it from you for $80..please post details on how to get in touch.

Please post details on how to get in touch.

Posted by Jake | September 10, 2008 11:58 AM

i got an email from them with a code that didn't even work, ah well, no turning a profit for me...

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 12:08 PM

Is the show still going to happen???

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 12:08 PM

What if you bought scalped tickets for a large sum of money, and the show is cancelled... hmm...

Posted by Gem | September 10, 2008 12:15 PM

That's the risk you always take in buying secondary tickets. Normally it's a small risk of cancellation, but under the circumstances of this week, I'd be wary of spending a huge sum until knew for sure that the show was going ahead....

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 12:21 PM

any bloggers / photographers looking for a ticket? or big oasis fans? I want to make sure Im not selling it to some asshole. 60 bucks and you walk in with me, there is no hard ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2008 1:10 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 2:09 PM

As much as I'd like to celebrate the act of Noel Gallagher getting attacked onstage, it really isn't funny.

All joking aside, have we learned nothing from Dimebag?

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 2:40 PM

great..I just spent $1000 on two tickets too :(

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 2:44 PM

$1000 WOW i tried to scalp ticket outside an oasis gig in Melbourne a couple of years ago, and ended up bumping into Liam and he was nice enough to let my gf and i in for free:)
p.s I hope the jerk that pushed Noel gets his own back.
