Has it been fifteen minutes yet?
Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2008 6:04 PM
Yes, it has and she's still around.
Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2008 6:23 PM
Isn't that Pineapple Express tune MIA?
Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2008 6:23 PM
Is the Irving Plaza show a DJ set....also, her album is potentially the best to be realeased this year...all you guys are too cool for pop music....enjoy listening to noise

Does anyone notice that House of Blues is slowly starting to take over the world? Why is no one freaking out? Be scared damnit!

"Is the Irving Plaza show a DJ set...."
None of the shows are DJ sets.

I saw her open for Coldplay and was quite entertained.

once again, texas gets snubbed. d/fw is 4th largest metropolitan area by population, in the nation. its ok though, she would probably play house of blues and i don't like walking thru the gift shop after a show.

House of Blues was bought by Live Nation (Clear Channel) who owns Irving Plaza and all of the other newly branded Fillmore Auditoriums. Not to mention hundreds of other venues and promotion rights around the world. Enormous company.

RETARD

I think the guy who made the "Pineapple Express" comment was snarkily implying that Santogold is a ripoff of M.I.A.
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 12:51 AM
mediocre m.i.a. wanna-be
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 1:41 AM
I believe that's a 100% Live Nation (who owns house of blues) booked tour. I wonder if they bought the tour out or something ....
Posted by Sean | September 3, 2008 8:25 AM
not even a good wanna-be, she is just tryin' too much to be weird, a bad version of Cindy Lauper without the mojo

LAME
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 10:10 AM
she's cute but not worth spending $25 plus service fees on.
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 10:52 AM
i saw her at central park with diplo and a-trak...she played a short set but she killed it. i love her! you all call her an m.i.a. knock off...listen to her whole album first
Posted by a | September 3, 2008 11:08 AM
ask how old she is
Posted by the cool police | September 3, 2008 11:19 AM
Why is she still being talked about. This is nothing new and nothing of a long lasting impression on music in general. Image and hype can only last so long. I hope for our sake shes done by the end of the year. Jesus where is the quality these days........idiots!

For the love of god, have any of you haters even listened to her whole album?? She's awesome. I'm not one of those people who hop on the band wagon ala Vampire Weekend; etc. Why the hell even read this posting if you don't like her?
Posted by E | September 3, 2008 12:23 PM
Saw her at Reading Festival with her new (full) band rather than a DJ - totally killed it. Really good.

M.I.A. knockoff? Try listening to it. You're probably the same assholes who thought M.I.A. was having her 15mins when she came out.
Easily one of the best albums of the year.
Stop listening to your friends, try listening to the music.

Santogold has chunks of girls like MIA in her stool.
Posted by big perm | September 3, 2008 1:05 PM
Mr Mr you are totally correct!
Santo SUCKS!!! I give her props for hustling harder than anyone since Madonna but Madonna did it in her early 20's not mid 30's!
I have listened to the entire album multiple times to see what the hype is about and it's just that...HYPE. With all the love she gets from the hipsters and the press her album is barely selling and she should thank god for the synchs her music has got as she will need to live off that $$$ for years once everyone realizes how lame she is and moves on to the next one (likke li anyone???!!!).

her remake of Guns of Brixton is tight!

Irving Plaza openers:
Low vs Diamond, Trouble Andrew, Plastic Little

I dig the album, but her 24-minute set at Summerstage--free or not--convinced me not to invest any money in any of her live shows.
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 4:26 PM
she did 24 minutes x 2 tonight for a whopping 48 minutes. Couldn't even manage to play the whole album. Weak...
