« Low - Brooklyn show moved to Bell House, other tour dates | Flipper cancels entire tour, Krist Novoselic leaves the band? »

Santogold and the Goldrush tour hit the Fillmore at Irving Plaza in NYC last night (Sept 19, 2008). The place filled up through out the night, ending with a 45 minute (or so) set by Santi to a sold out crowd, (that included Jay-Z and Beyonce). She didn't play "I'm a Lady," but pretty much played the rest of the album and tracks off her Top Ranking mixtape including a song that samples Animal Collective's "Comfy in Nautica"...
"She played a few songs off the mixtape, asking the crowd if they were familiar with it. It didn't seem like a 45 minute set. Plus she only has one album and like 3 or 4 songs on Top Ranking. My only complaint was that there wasn't a full band backing her because I was under the impression that there would be. Other than that it was pretty fun. Her dancers are awesome and she sounded great." [Anonymous]Low vs. Diamond, Plastic Little and Trouble Andrew opened up the marathon of a night. let's hear the new song!

That song is not new. It was on the Top Ranking mixtape that came out a couple of months ago and it samples "Comfy in Nautica" not "Bros." She played a few songs off the mixtape, asking the crowd if they were familiar with it. It didn't seem like a 45 minute set. Plus she only has one album and like 3 or 4 songs on Top Ranking. My only complaint was that there wasn't a full band backing her because I was under the impression that there would be. Other than that it was pretty fun. Her dancers are awesome and she sounded great.

such a fun show, despite an hour long set up for a 45 minute set.

I liked Santogold a lot, but hate all the opening shit you have to go through in order to see her. Then she only plays for a short time which is laim.
cut out all them hype the crowd dj's that all dull for the most part and just do a shorter show without them invovled.

anon at 2:31:
obviously her short would be set, but I think the complaint is more that we had to wait staring at projected images for an hour while they set up a laptop before she even came on.
the set up for her was longer than her actual set.

She looks like Kool Moe Dee! Not a good look but I guess you have to disguise the age and ugliness somehow. Please can't her 15 minutes be up already. NEXT!

great photos--I especially like the large b/w one of the singer from Trouble Andrew with his fist in the air.

I agree. It was annoying having to wait. Standing up for 5 hours straight was very annoying. But it was still fun :]
