what are the jews like live? never seen em before.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2008 3:17 PM

they were shaky a few years ago but are great now. and monotonix are a lot of fun.

the crowd at the williamsburg show tonight, however, was the biggest collection of assholes i've ever seen.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2008 11:52 PM

why was the crowd a big collection of assholes?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:12 AM

Because Williamsburg in general is a big collection of poseurs.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:13 AM

^^^ yea and there is no way of getting to williamsburg if you don't live there so the crowd must be comprised of all people who live in williamsburg.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:21 AM

There were so many awful people here - dicks on the balcony spilling beer onto the crowd below, people trying to be funny and chanting "Sarah Palin" or calling out for Malkmus songs, this disgusting fat guy and his indian nerd buddy moshing in a really obnoxious way, some dude still wearing trucker hats and ironic mustaches, this jackass in a Green Day shirt ranting and trying to make the show about him - just such an overwhelming collection of jerks that it stopped being fun by about the last third of the show. I've seen hundreds of shows and this is the first time I walked out feeling shitty about liking the band because of how gross so much of the crowd was.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:25 AM

I was there and all of these things did happen ^^^

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:35 AM

i was up front with a few good friends having a really great time until, toward the end, a collection of 10-15 jackasses started moshing (yes, moshing) into us. during the encore, one guy punched one of my friends (a girl, no less) in the kidney. and then shouted, "david! david, i love you! you're so handsom, david!"

real classy.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:40 AM

wow. here's to hoping the bowery crowd is a better one.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:42 AM

Was it that bearded, fat, Orson Welles-looking dumbfuck that punched your friend? He came up front towards the end and smelled so horrible that I had to head back about 10 rows to get away from him. He kept yelling to Berman about how handsome he was, plus trying to strike up conversations with Cassie and the lead guitarist while they were playing songs. Amazing.

We're really going to violently mosh at a Silver Jews show? Are we going to try and get a Wall of Death going next time Lambchop comes around?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:51 AM

Yes, it was him. ("bearded, fat, Orson Welles-looking dumbfuck").

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 12:55 AM

Oof. That guy was the worst!

Did you see the guy wearing the Green Day "Dookie" shirt and yellow rain slicker who tried to take center stage during Monotonix's set? And then was doing this odd dance giving everyone the finger, miming typing on a keyboard and railing against bloggers? What are these people like in real life???

Maxwells should be a better show. I have learned my lesson about going to see shows in Williamsburg.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 1:15 AM

Williamsburg Music Hall Shows aren't always this bad, but I'm glad I wasn't there tonight. I'm seeing them tomorrow at Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 1:19 AM

"Maxwells should be a better show"

Monotonix aren't playing Maxwell's

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 1:32 AM

that guy in the green day shirt was the worst person i've ever seen. luckily he got kicked out right before the jews went on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 10:11 AM

AWWW, DID YOU GET BEER IN YOUR HAIR, MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 1:59 PM

All you guys actually came home RIGHT AFTER the show and left a comment on a blog.
Who are the real losers again?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 2:04 PM

the "bearded, fat, Orson Welles-looking dumbfuck" is probably going to all three shows

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 2:06 PM

what's wrong williamsburg, somebody tried to interfere with your right to stand still at a show and do absolutely nothing?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 2:35 PM

oh, Brooklyn Vegan commenters. I was wondering where you were.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 5:20 PM

Maggie G did get beer in her hair!

The show was a blast! Those were my jamz they were playing last night! Just missing Friday Night Fever and Banging a Librarian.

Monotonix was really fun, they could of been called the Borats.
I'm still trying to forget the sight of that guys butthole.

Cassie Berman is beautiful!!!!! and I like the way she sings.

MONOTONIX at Death by Audio Monday night!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 7:00 PM

I did think it was funny when one guy yelled "WE LOVE YOU, DOUG HENNING" at the lead singer.

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 7:17 PM

Does anyone remember what time Monotonix went on last night?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 7:17 PM

anon 2:35 like it is any different in manhattan, wtf is your point?

Posted by Anonymous | September 7, 2008 11:21 PM

whew... i believe you all those things happened... but apart from getting beer in my hair during the encore (which i took in good spirit), i was lucky enough to be oblivious to the other instances of jackass behavior (chock some of that up to my deteriorating hearing), hence was able to fully enjoy myself during the show, which was

FUCKIN' INCREDIBLE.

what a difference between that and the show two years ago, which, while enjoyable, was shakier than a mexican vibrator. this time they were so smoooooooth. great playing, great stage presence... wow. oh, and great song selection, too (except, as always, i'd love hearing a couple more from the first album).

plus, cassie (HOT!!!) and david have developed this totally sexy thing onstage where she gives him this look like any second she's gonna jump him and peg him.
