the stone temple pilots
they're elegant bachelors
they're foxy to me
are they foxy to you?

Posted by wembly | September 23, 2008 6:29 AM

Go away, Billy. Thanks in advance!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 6:35 AM

I always though that was a really lame dis. If you really didn't give a fuck about the Smashing Pumpkins, why write a song about it?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 6:54 AM

Pavement sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 7:50 AM

Bald people can't jump.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:00 AM

Is it just Billy and Jimmy on tour??? what is that photo from?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:08 AM

what does this have to do with radiohead?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:11 AM

People who think Pavement sucks suck.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:13 AM

Pavemant were great! All the bands that sound like them now suck.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:34 AM

I know this is a Smashing Pumpkins post, but I wanted to share that I noticed today that Stereolab tickets are now reduced:

Livenation has them for $37.65 total
$23.50 + $9.00 convenience fee + $5.15 order fee

Ticketmaster has them for $40.05 total
$25 + $7.40 service charge + $5.15 ordser processing fee + $2.50 ticketfast (no will call option is given)

I don't remember what they were priced at originally, but I think it was $40-50 before fees. I don't know if they're available at the box office. And, yes, these fees seem excessive.

pavement is the most over-rated band of the last 25 years.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:46 AM

scalpers are going to go wild with this.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:50 AM

I am one.

Posted by greg | September 23, 2008 8:57 AM

Stephen Malkmus would kick the shit out of billy corgan in a game of scrabble.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 8:59 AM

If you think Pavement is the most overrated band of the last 25 years, then Smashing Pumpkins is the most overrated band in the history of the universe.

Out on tour with the urban dance squad.
are they punk, hip hop'or mod?

Posted by Tony | September 23, 2008 9:08 AM

Having seen them in their "Heyday", they were boring and whiny then and can't imagine them being less so now. The act should be called "Billy Corgan's Smashing Pumpkins Revue." Oh are they awful. I had the misfortune of seeing them on what was one snorer of a tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I am a big fan), Pearl Jam (I like the idea, but not the execution), and the Smashing Pumpkins. I could have slept through the entire show. The Chili Peppers were way off their game, as I think that they may have been breaking in new band members, as I saw them prior to this show with a P-Funk guitar player and they ruled. Pearl Jam, background music. Smashing Pumpkins, just sh**ty alt. rock, though not as bad as Zwan. Now that takes shitty alt. rock into stratospheric suck.

Posted by fortyver | September 23, 2008 9:46 AM

If you think Pavement were great, then you're probably in a shitty band too.

Posted by Antonymous | September 23, 2008 10:36 AM

oh yeah? Well, 8:46 you are the most overrated anonymous commenter on Brooklyn Vegan of all the anonymous commenters in the history of the blog!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 10:44 AM

I'm going to name my child Anon 10:36.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 10:54 AM

how can you say pavement sucks? overrated, sure, their music isn't the pinnacle of civilization and the 90s like critics and geeks would like you to believe, but they have an incredible amount of integrity and surprising emotion (though hidden by sometimes lazy lyrics) packed into tons and tons of great songs. dont be ignorant and just write a good band off just because.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 10:57 AM

Am I the only one who would rather listen to a Malkmus solo record than Pavement? (waiting for the single "yes" post)

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 11:41 AM

Billy's got to be hurting he couldn't swing MSG.

Posted by Tito | September 23, 2008 11:47 AM

Malkmus Albums are fucking awesome. I actually enjoy some of them more than pavement. pig lib and face the truth are solid!!!!

Fuck Billy Whorgan!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 11:49 AM

Yes. Malkmus is better without Pavemen t.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 11:52 AM

Who will O.D. this time?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 11:59 AM

As long as the pumpkins stay away from that fucking awful new album i have no problem seeing them!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 12:09 PM

the best work malkmus ever did was on American Water...

Pavement doesn't suck, they're just over-rated. i like some songs, other songs are boring. on a lot of there albums there are just huge long stretches where I lose interest.

i know i'm supposed to like them because they're "influential" but I think a lot of the bands that say this suck too.

ps. pumpkins are OK in my book, their sound is pretty dated (i was hoping they'd keep evolving their sound like they did for Adore) but nothing to get all riled up about.

Posted by Anon 10:36 | September 23, 2008 1:28 PM

how exactly can one get bored listening to slanted & enchanged?!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 1:46 PM

Sorry dude! I must be crazy or something, I know.

Posted by Anon 10:36 | September 23, 2008 2:03 PM

smashing pumpkins fucking suck.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 4:13 PM

ears

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 4:21 PM

Smashing Pumpkins are an amazing band. I know I'm not the only one on this site who thinks so!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2008 11:39 PM

2 day passes available w/ the presale as well!

Posted by BN | September 24, 2008 7:53 AM

$89!! Seriously?

I loved Smashing Pumpkins but I can't imagine swinging that. Maybe if it was the original lineup or they were going to play Gish, Siamese Dream or MCIS front to back.
