Saturday night (September 20) Stars played their first New York gig since last October in support of their new EP "Sad Robots". Terminal 5 is the largest venue the band has headlined in NYC, and though it may have not sold out, the place looked packed. Like fellow Canadian Basia Bulat did one night earlier at Highline Ballroom (Oh, My Darling), the band played a good chunk of their 2008 Polaris Prize nominated album (In Our Bedroom After The War).

Great show, intense lighting! Terminal 5 is not completely awful when you're not squeezed into the middle of the crowd.

Did anyone else think Amy's voice sounded a little horse? Good show, liked the setlist, but the bass seemed overblown, hopefully a better venue next time they're in town.

This was an excellent concert. The band seems very appreciative of their fans which I think is reciprocated by the fans.

Great set list.

By the way, when are they going to ban every idiot with a cellphone camera/digital camera from spending an entire show snapping pictures and giggling? There was alot of that going on.

@ 5:06, the bass is always overblown at T5. that's why its not my most fav venue. bah.

Did you guys go to the same show? Seriously...I didn't realise a band could butcher their own songs that badly...man....poor at best...

I couldn't hear torquil at all, the levels weren't very good.

I was there. I hate to say it, Amy is definitely talented, but Stars kind of sucks. Let's be honest here.

what was the first song they played? can't remember and can't read off the set list.

i thought the show was awesome though!

God, I saw Stars years ago & Torquil threw the biggest tantrum about the sound. He made Lou Barlow look mellow. It didn't even sound THAT bad but he was obviously not gonna drop it. The club was small & admittedly didn't sound the best but it was as good as it was gonna get & the people there came to see Stars so the crowd was rolling with it. Regardless, they cut their set short & afterwards their label dude at the time was trying to do damage control by trying to explain that Torquil was a serious artist & cares so much about his music that he just couldn't bear to hear it compromised & he gets emotional etc etc. I sold my fucking Stars CD the next day. I've never trusted anyone named Torquil since.

No "Comeback"? That song used to rock.
