KweliA crew of hip-hop notables are gathering for a worthy cause, to help "spread the word that thousands of 9/11 first responders are sick and dying and need our help". Headliner Talib Kweli will join Dead Prez, revolutionary Immortal Technique, Mr. "The Greatest Story Never Told" Coming Soon aka Saigon, beatsmiths Da Beatminerz, Chip Fu (of the Fu-Schnickens), Dub Rock All Stars (ex-Da Bush Babees - "Remember we"? ), Loer Velocity, Mr. Green of Channel Live (performing? I thought all he does is spark mad Izm?), Messiah, Tiye Phoenix, and Scanz at The Madison (27 W 24th St, between Broadway and 6th) on Friday night (9/12).

Tickets are still available. If you can't make it but would still like to help, you can help by donating to this worthy cause.

Talib Kweli is also part of the upcoming Hip Hop Live tour and recently played Rock The Bells.

Evil Dee of Da Beatminerz and Black Moon will play the classic Enta Da Stage at an upcoming show at the Knitting Factory.

As KRS One is on record saying he cheered the 9/11 attacks, I note he's not on the bill (punk ass beeeutch)

Big up to all these rappers, though. This NYer, and 9/11 survivor, truly appreciates it.

Yeah, Ol' Empanada Nose is not showing up.

Good for these cats, though. That shows a lot of heart.

actually KRS-One is part of this event. Before the concert:

"1PM-5:30PM - Speeches from Former Congresswoman and Green Party Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney, Hip-hop legend and founder of the Stop the Violence Movement KRS-ONE, architect and founder of Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth Richard Gage, actor and advocate for a new, independent 9/11 investigation Daniel Sunjata, Louder Than Words, We Are CHANGE, and more."

Dead Prez cancelled. Post updated.

Dead Prez won't be making it tonight, but everyone else is on...I've e-mailed the admins to that effect.

KRS is in, actually. He'll be making a speech this afternoon (see the http://2008nowornever.com site for details on speeches this afternoon), and we'll probably see him perform with Mr Green of Channel Live.

KRS's infamous statements on 9/11 may always precede him on that subject - but KRS is definitely a supporter of the first responders, and a new/independent investigation of 9/11.

Hope to see a lot of people come out. With your help we can raise a lot of money and awareness for this cause.

So he supports the terrorists who killed people that day, AND the people who tried to save lives of the victims?? PLEASE! The guy is a real piece of shit (and apparently mentally conflicted)

This event, as long as he's a part of it is a complete joke and disprespectful to the victims, first responders and their families. But who has the balls to call it as it is??

Agreed. This event, although meant to help the first responders, is actually hurting them with that fucking KRS 1 being a part of it. What the hell is wrong with people that they don't see that?
