Marnie Stern's new album
Marnie Stern

These Are Powers will kick off a two-month-long tour with a pair of NYC dates this weekend. On Saturday (9/27), the band (which must be mentioned includes ex-Liars Pat Noecker) plays the Silent Barn with Marnie Stern, Neptune, and Screaming Females, 7PM, all ages, $7.

Then Sunday (9/28) TAP plays the Knitting Factory with Neptune, Arrington de Dionyso with MGM Grand, Dinowalrus, and Marty McSorely (DJ set/WFMU) at 8PM. Tickets are only $5.00.

These Are Powers recently signed to Dead Oceans who will be re-releasing the band's Taro Tarot and Terrific Seasons. I'd especially recommend a look at Taro Tarot, which takes TAP's avant-nosie-rock to a cleaner, more streamlined place. Check out TAP's tour blog at Other Music.

Marnie Stern, the headliner for Saturday's show, will be, according to Todd P, "debuting her new band!" She's also set to play another NYC show at the Cake Shop on Wed, Oct 22 (during CMJ), before heading out west for a 10-date tour with Gang Gang Dance.

Marnie Stern's newest, This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That (art above), the follow-up to her great 2007 debut, is available for pre-order at Kill Rock Stars. Pre-orders ship with a limited edition coloring book by BK artist Bella Foster.

for the record, Marnie Sent me a txt a day or so ago saying that she's going to be playing solo after all, rather than with a band.

she's rad either way.

Great show!
I talked with Marnie before her set, and I bought her new album from her. She's a really nice person!
