Hey, there''s a white dude in the band!
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:31 AM
did somebody just say pitchfork best new music?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:34 AM
This new record is pretty great-- I was fairly disapointed the first couple listens, but it really starts to gel if you force yourself to give it the chance.
Its not Cookie Mountain-- its lighter, dancier and with some touches of afro-beat.
Curious what other folks (who have listened to it more than once) think.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:38 AM
The white dude plays all the instruments. the black dudes are for show.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:41 AM
Ooh, lookie! Anon 11:41 said something provocative! Not to mention demonstrably false. Stop trolling.

When can we banish using animal heads on people in videos. It is getting OLLLLLLLLLLLLLD!

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:51 AM
Youre all gay! this is getting stupid
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:53 AM
I agree that on first listen it's kind of unexpected and therefore less approachable...
After 6 or 7 listens though I wish I was in the freaking band.... wish they'd play some late night or SNL.
Posted by jason! | September 16, 2008 11:53 AM
cookie mountain was pretty bad. I expect something better this time arround.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:54 AM
If they survive the backlash of cookie mountain, theyll be on top again!
Posted by Geebo | September 16, 2008 11:55 AM
"The white dude plays all the instruments. the black dudes are for show."
LOL!
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:56 AM
tv on the radio burnt out quick. what a joke...
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:56 AM
they'll probably play SNL at some point this season... they've been getting better and riskier with their musical guests.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:01 PM
Cookie Mountain was overrated I don't know why all these people were saying it was the best thing to come out that year.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:02 PM
i dunno.... i thought it was kind of a cool video, myelf.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:06 PM
dancing policeman are gross. terrible
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:09 PM
I don't think Cookie Mountain was the best album that year but I'm not ashamed to say I really dug it. I haven't heard the rest of this new one but based on the single, it sounds like it's going to be quite different. Sounds different, like Prince or something... can't put my finger on it.
Posted by yo | September 16, 2008 12:09 PM
yeh, cookie mountain was a general dissapointment all around. Let's hope the new ones better!
Posted by Joel | September 16, 2008 12:13 PM

Cookie Mountain was incredible.. Could def. hear the Lodger era Bowie..
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:36 PM
Lodger is incredible! how can you compare the two?? they are nothing alike.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:53 PM
You cant say cookie mountain sounds like Bowie at all. come on. Bowie appears on a TV record, but the 2 have nothing in common musically. clean out your ears, you hipster tool!
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:54 PM
Can you say cookie mountain, cookie mountain 10 times in a row really fast? hehe
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 12:59 PM
Over - rated.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 1:23 PM
Tv on the radio sucks. They haven't made anything good since their 1st EP. Cookie Mountain was one giant failure.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 1:23 PM
Cookie Mountain was Cookie Monster's favorite album of the year. Not just for obvious reasons (the title), but also because of it's amazing blend of funky, danceable rhythms and poignant soulful lyrics. Cookie Monster is also a big fan of their latest effort, but he also yearns for more references to cookies because cookies are his favorite thing...

Here's hoping TVOR move towards a funk-heavy sci-fi direction. Got to get those white-boy fans' fannies shaking.
Posted by drewo | September 16, 2008 1:28 PM
I like Oreos. And I like Tv on the radio. Is there a connection?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 1:29 PM

Overrated!!
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 2:03 PM
The "Rachel Gets Married" movie with Tunde Adebimpe is dreadful. You'll want to falcon-punch everyone involved.

Posted by grace6697 | September 16, 2008 3:07 PM
i think this whole album is pretty fucking cheesy. not sure why more people aren't calling it that, it's like canned funk with a twist of Billy Joel's we didn't start the fire
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 3:15 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 3:28 PM

awesome album, like most everything from tvotr. anybody who doesnt agree or cant at least appreciate this band, has shit taste in music, bottom line.
Posted by reality | September 16, 2008 8:17 PM
A lot of pro wrestlers also use the "bottom line" declaration while trying to prove an unprovable point.

I bought Cookie Mountain when it came out and thought it was crap. It's only been in the last 6 months that I came to really dig it. Damn good record in my opinion.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 11:24 PM
