are all these shows rain or shine?

wear your raincoat? Gee thanks. If you hipsters checked the local news once in a while instead of pitchfork you would be bracing yourselves for tropical storm Hanna, which is headed northward and likely to hit our shores by sat night.

Concert. Lots of luck with that.

Monster Island is rain or shine.

there's lots of inside space to have the bands play!

them hipsters really seem to get on your nerves 2:22.

maybe you should relax and stop reading a website called Brooklyn Vegan if you hate hipsters so much

I'm so hip I shower with my raincoat.

Posted by Regular reader | September 5, 2008 2:32 PM

and maybe you should get your weather news from weather.com instead of Brooklyn vegan. Just a thought.

you know, there is a lot of info contained here at brooklyn vegan that we non-hipsters find interesting. you don't have to be a poser moron to enjoy certain forms of music that the hipster has embraced. in fact, it is our sacred duty as normal, intelligent folk to point out not only the absurdity of your dress and mindset, but also to relentlessly rag on all the horrible music the rest of us are forced to endure as a result of your bad taste.
what would it take to get every hipster in brooklyn to go for a swim off coney island saturday evening?

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:34 PM

By 'raincoat', BV means 'condom'.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:34 PM

dan deacon is playing a free show in the water off coney island on saturday at 8, get there early, it's sure to fill up.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:35 PM

There sure are a lot of angry hateful assholes who post on BV. Depressing.

Posted by Boo-Boo Face | September 5, 2008 2:38 PM

personally, i love being a hipster.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:40 PM

it's called a backlash, and it happens with every stupid fashion trend, especially those that bring down entire boroughs and music scenes.

anyone know if this EVR fest is still gonna happen? anyone know the order/times for the bands?

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:42 PM

Normally at South Street Seaport, if it rains hard, the bands don't play. I wish this could be postponed till Sunday somehow.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:53 PM

where can buy a hip looking raincoat?

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 2:56 PM

Wouldn't it be ironic if Sam Champion had a show scheduled for tomorrow and it got cancelled due to rain?

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 3:16 PM

I'll be indoors at Carcass tomorrow!

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 3:22 PM

hey brooklyn vegan. can you put a screen on comments so any comment invoking the word "hipster" is rejected.

it's a largely useless derogatory term that seems to loosely mean "people exactly like the speaker, but whom the speaker doesn't like"

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 3:22 PM

please BV, do away with comments on this site once and for all.

Don't know about if it's canceled, but set times are here:

the comments are the best part about brooklynvegan. you can bitch and moan all you want, but you know deep down that you love it.

Hispsters For BV Unite!

3:22 - I couldn't agree with you more...The problem is that there are genuine people who dress in the style that is deemed as "hipster" and listen to music that is deemed "hipster" because they thoroughly enjoy it....Then there are the people who dress the part and force listening to bands that they don't even enjoy or because a certain website says its good (aka pitchfork)....The sad thing is that the genuine people get a bad rep because of all these tools who are pretty much doing the same thing kids that watch MTV do....

Cranford Fest is still going on!

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 4:00 PM

You know what, everyone on here is a fucking hipster. Yeah, that means you. Almost by definition anyone that knows what a hipster is, is a hipster himself.

love it.

BV comments are the only thing that get me through my workday

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 4:18 PM

hipster: a person who is into indie music and culture but is not you or any of your friends

Posted by yoga | September 5, 2008 4:29 PM

>Wouldn't it be ironic if Sam Champion had a show scheduled for tomorrow and it got cancelled due to rain?

no that would be a funny coincidence, not irony.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 4:31 PM

Damn it feels good to be a hipster.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 4:59 PM

that does it:

I'm going emo.

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 5:12 PM

Hipster: the American cousin of Eurotrash.

Posted by drewo | September 5, 2008 5:13 PM

I'm giving up being a hipster and start applying for jobs working for Diddy... ya know.. and become "big-time"

Posted by Anonymous | September 5, 2008 5:33 PM

I'd hip it.
