Why is this place being advertised in the NY metropolitan area?
Posted by michaelways | September 11, 2008 11:33 AM
montclair rules.
Posted by jed | September 11, 2008 11:39 AM
huh?!?!? its being advertised in the nyc metropolitan area because its a half hour from nyc...
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 11:52 AM
It's quicker to drive to Montclair from Manhattan than it is to take a subway to Coney Island.
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 12:04 PM
Convenient for those who drive, I suppose.
Posted by michaelways | September 11, 2008 12:08 PM
why leave the city to see shows that are all playing nyc?
for the fun of seeing NJ?
I think not.

"why leave the city to see shows that are all playing nyc?

Where is Wolf Parade playing in NYC? I dont see that in their schedule.
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 12:19 PM
in case you didnt know, people live in nj! its obvi not a "nyc" venue...
although i love the easy drive/train ride into nyc, it will be nice to just make the half hour drive home from montclair after a show, especially on a weeknight
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 12:20 PM
Still no seating chart?
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 1:01 PM
Will Wolf Parade be general admission?
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 3:58 PM
The REAL Montclair venue is a couple blocks away at the Meatlocker on Park street. Plus its long history of house shows over the years. Best secret music scene that nobody knew existed and is now over because its members live in New York.
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 5:26 PM
the Wellmont is general admission
and the Meatlocker was five guys, a pair of Converse, and a drum
Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2008 8:39 PM
Is anyone that lives in NYC or Brooklyn from there? Every time I ask they say Minnesota, Arizona Kansas City etc. Phony balonies
Posted by anonymous | September 12, 2008 11:56 AM
Native Astorian right here, bro.
Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2008 5:21 PM
wow - why so cranky? i grew up in new jersey, live in new york, love new jersey, love new york, love not needing a car to go to montclair. montclair and the wellmont was a wonderful destination as a movie theater - no blockbusters there! - and is going to be wonderful as a concert theater, and i'm grateful for the effort to save it.
Posted by donna | September 14, 2008 10:41 AM
The Wellmont is NOT general admission. I bought tickets yesterday and it has a row# and seat#. Only thing is with no seating chart don't know where the row is located.

How would a person get to this theatre from manhattan with public transportation?
Posted by Anonymous | September 14, 2008 12:07 PM
Why go to Montclair when ACE BAR is just around the corner?
Posted by Anonymous | September 14, 2008 12:34 PM
nj transit
Posted by Anonymous | September 14, 2008 12:57 PM
Montclair is filled with former residents of Brooklyn Heights and the Upper West Side who believe the town has a similar feel but is less urban. NJ Transit won't get you there from the city on weekends, though; at least not yet. You have to take a DeCamp bus from Port Authority.

Honestly the meatlocker still has a much better scene, with shows that have energy. Rather than this which is just trying to appeal to middle class suburbanites, who will kill the range of music played there, its going to suck
