Wamu

Washington Mutual Inc. bondholders are likely to lose most of their money after the thrift was seized in the largest U.S. bank failure in history, according to CreditSights Inc.

WaMu was taken over after customers withdrew $16.7 billion from accounts since Sept. 16, leaving the Seattle-based bank ``unsound,'' the Office of Thrift Supervision said yesterday. New York-based JPMorgan Chase & Co. then bought WaMu's branch network for $1.9 billion to become the biggest U.S. bank by deposits. JPMorgan won't acquire WaMu's liabilities, including claims by senior and subordinated debt holders, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. [Bloomberg]

Nick Cave plays the WaMu Theater on October 4th.

@12:53 - I was there for that show - one of the better NO shows I've attended. Quando Quango (I think) were the opener.

For the final encore of "Sunrise" the band had already been off the stage for several minutes, house lights were up, folks had left, roadies were unplugging gear when the band amazingly reappeared and had to yank the instruments out of the hands of the surprised (and none-too-thrilled) stage crew.

Nothing will happen to the theater except for another name change. The theater is not owned or operated by WaMu. Itt is owned by the Garden. They just sold the naming rights to WaMu. Other that the naming rights, WaMu has nothing to do with the operation or ownership of the venue.
