Yo La Tengo release movie score comp + benefit tix on sale

Yo La Tengo @ McCarren Pool (more by Jason Bergman)
Yo La Tengo

Tickets are on sale for a "Neumann Leather Tentants Association Benefit featuring Yo La Tengo / Outpost/Five Dollar Priest" at Maxwell's in Hoboken on Monday September 29th (thx rajohn).

In related news, Yo La Tengo's new CD They Shoot, We Score starts shipping today...

Not sure about the legal definition of "popular demand," but this might actually apply. At long last, They Shoot, We Score collects all of our music -- plus outtakes -- for the motion pictures Game 6, Junebug, Old Joy, and Shortbus in one handy-dandy compact disc. Nearly an hour of instrumental music. 27 tracks -- 26 of them previously unreleased. Eight-page booklet features posters from around the world. Four different front covers, one for each movie. Don't collect them all, and don't ask for a specific one -- they will be sent out according to a random-number generator by our blindfolded mail-order crew.

i love them and they are legends but they are like the tri-state area's house band. no one wants to hear a 20 minute version of pass the hatchet for the 10th time.

Re: Neumann Leathers Tenants Association

Did the owners of the property buy it with the expectation that they'd get the zoning changed and thus get a huge return on their investment? Or are they longtime owners of the property?

i don't think they play nearly as much as some other bands I can think of.

A reception for the Neumann artists now currently on display at Maxwell's will be this coming Monday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. "We have some great work by 16 Neumann artists. Come have a drink and a look at the opening," writes Neumann artist Tim Daly.

Artists from the Neumann Leathers building have their work on display at Maxwell's through Oct. 17. Half the proceeds from the sale of their work will go to the Neumann Leather's Tenants' Association, an organization that is trying to combat City Hall's plan to tear down the historic Neumann Leather's site.
