damn you, BV. why do you have to let everyone know about this?

Posted by wembley | October 29, 2008 9:34 AM

sounds like a lot of confusing work.

Posted by a stupid young man | October 29, 2008 9:40 AM

wembley, you are a jerk.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 9:47 AM

BV loves scalpers

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 9:51 AM

Pass on this. You can see the same thing by visiting any hospital or assisted living facility for a lot less money and a lot more laughs.

Posted by Jerk | October 29, 2008 9:55 AM

not trying to be a jerk. When I found about about it yesterday it crossed my mind to make a comment about it on here. But really... most of the regular BV'ers just trash talk Dylan, and it's going to be so hard to get tickets to this anyway. It's really supposed to be a "fan" show.

It's not a big deal. I don't really want BV damned. I was just privately hoping that an announcement for this show wouldn't make its way to this site. BV's great, and his show announcements are really helpful.

I'm personally really psyched for this. I thought Dylan was great in August (it was the first time I had seen him in years) and I was hoping he'd do a smaller indoors show sometime soon. Every time I've ever seen Dylan it's been from the lawn at a big outdoor show, so I'm hoping I can actually get some decent seats for this one.

Posted by wembley | October 29, 2008 9:57 AM

I saw Dylan 2x and they were enough for me. It really is, for me, just about seeing someone before they passed on. Someone once compared it to seeing Picasso on stage painting and not really caring for what he painted on stage, but just appreciating the artist. I think I agree.

I actually enjoy a lot of the late era Dylan recorded material, I just don't particularly care for his live show.

Good luck with getting tickets. I'll probably buy some and put them on Stubhub!

Just kidding.

im going to the oneonta show 2 days before the united palace show, since i go to school there, im excited at the fact im seeing bob dylan, but i know its gonna be an "interesting" concert.

Posted by adam | October 29, 2008 11:59 AM

After the prospect park show this summer....NO THANKS

I will only ever go to another Bob Dylan show if his band includes Levon helm, Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 1:57 PM

^^^ see what I mean? Haters.

Posted by wembley | October 29, 2008 2:09 PM

When it comes to the Prospect Park show, which I witnessed from the 3rd row, the haters here just happen to be right. Read Jarnow's piece in the Voice, which pretty much encapsulates how bad the Brooklyn show really was. Dylan is barely even mailing it in these days. Its like the Elvis's coat skit on SNL.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 2:13 PM

there are haters for every act listed on this site. unfortunately, they feel the need to share their opinions all the time. just ignore them and keep on loving the music you love.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 2:26 PM

If I was not there myself, I could actually start believing that the Prospect Park show was bad judging by some of the comments here. Good thing I was there and had a fantastic time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 3:16 PM

"It's not a big deal. I don't really want BV damned."

Thank you very much, you are a gentleman!

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 3:30 PM

With Dylan it's a comparative, and Prospect Park wasn't as bad as the Beacon stand in 2005 or the first post-Sexton/Campbell tour at Hammerstein. Those were bad. By comparison, Prospect Park was pretty good, worth it for Masters alone. It's Dylan, so we bother.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 3:30 PM

what i hate about this it's that it goes on sale
on the 30th of the month and on a thursday.
how many of dylan fans will have the money to buy
tix just the day after, when it'll be too late?
plus wouldn't hurt to publish tix prices in advance!!

Posted by anon | October 29, 2008 5:59 PM

loves it

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2008 7:05 PM

why is the bobdylan.com website crashing???????????????????????????

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 9:44 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 9:46 AM

still not on sale...somebody kill me.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 9:47 AM

password?

Posted by hmmm | October 30, 2008 9:50 AM

what the hell. why is it STILL not working???

Posted by karmaonion | October 30, 2008 9:51 AM

chortled

Posted by wembley | October 30, 2008 9:51 AM

If you use internet explorer (not firefox, for some reason) and hit refresh, you'll see the password screen pop up briefly, then disappear. So you have to hit refresh, then stop, while it's on that screen. After about 20 attempts I got through. Good luck...

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 9:52 AM

this is a disaster.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 9:52 AM

forget it, i'm done listening to music, ticketmaster...you win.

that guy is bullshitting, they are simply not up for sale yet...internet explorer my ass.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:00 AM

hit refresh, watch it load, hit stop when you see the password field load up. works in firefox too but tedious as hell.

you can get the free standard shipping by us postal.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:01 AM

no, i just bought 2 tickets too using his method

Posted by karmaonion | October 30, 2008 10:01 AM

this is so annoying. when i bought my tickets there was no standard shipping option, only ups options available.

Posted by karmaonion | October 30, 2008 10:03 AM

where are you buying tickets? i don't see any way to buy on either bobdylan or on ticketmaster

Posted by AnonymousX | October 30, 2008 10:05 AM

WTF? Is there even a Mac version of Explorer to download anymore?

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:07 AM

Got to the end, with tickets in the VIP section, and bailed when I saw the final cost. Yikes Bobert!

TM has blocked my entire companies IP because we're all trying to buy.

Thanks, ticketmaster!

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:10 AM

it works with firefox too.

Keep trying even if they say they blocked you. I got blocked even after selecting tickets but kept going back, refreshing and entering captchas six different times. Eventually the order went through. No standard mail option is bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:17 AM

"Ok, so even the balcony is expensive. How is it at UPT?:"

UPT is exquisite. I trek from the UES and I love it.
Has a real gospel-y feel to it. Sigur Ros was amazing there but Beck's sound was off. I still enjoyed both shows immensely.

The only thing from stopping me buying tickets is that I cannot justify the 14.00 shipping nor the 59.00 balcony tickets..

Shame on Bob Dylan and shame on Ticketmaster.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:19 AM

The live music industry is shot to hell. This is why I rarely bother going to shows anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:24 AM

finally got it to work. annoying as all hell. i loath ticketmaster

Posted by AnonymousX | October 30, 2008 10:25 AM

these really are too expensive. I simply couldn't justify paying more than $75/ea for balcony seats.

if I'm paying that much (especially after just seeing him a few months ago) I want to be able to see the wrinkles on his face.

Posted by wembley | October 30, 2008 10:29 AM

wow, i can't believe that worked! you have to stop loading the page with split-second precision! seriously! WEBFAIL! TICKETWIN!

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:30 AM

go through the bobdylan.com website... i just got tickets, not great seats, but i'm in the orchestra...

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:37 AM

"BV loves scalpers"
Even for scalpers, Dylan is risky ( i am sure ).

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:38 AM

I had strange issues as well, even between Safari & Firefox. But, I now see that the link to Ticketmaster from the Dylan site is this:

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0000415D88334784?did=dylan

(it's different from the one on the Ticketmaster site)

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 10:41 AM

This prick had no problem getting 8 second row seats. I wonder who he blows, er, I mean ... knows!

Wow, quite decent of TM. I guess I have such low expectations of them:

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with important information regarding your order of tickets to see Bob Dylan scheduled at the United Palace Theatre on Friday, November 21, 2008, at 8:00PM. Due to a programming error, you were able to select standard mail, which should not have been available for the section you have purchased.

Due to this error, Ticketmaster will be sending your tickets via complimentary UPS. The delivery change will in no way affect your seat locations.

Balcony at UPT = best of luck with this.

Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2008 2:16 PM

Anyone know what's up with the cheap General Admission tickets? I understand that you probably have to stand, but where are these located? Back of ORchestra? Or in the Balcony? Lodge?

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2008 12:24 PM

is there an opener?

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2008 10:14 AM

Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
