Diesel party (MIA, Hot Chip) tix - win them or go get them
building the Diesel party at Pier 3 in Brooklyn (from mcBrooklyn)

The Diesel party featuring M.I.A., Hot Chip, N.E.R.D and others is this Saturday night October 11th at Pier 3 in Brooklyn (see picture above). Vice has a list of locations you can find tickets in addition to Diesel stores. You can also get some tickets right here. I have five pairs that will be mailed to five winner's doors. If you want them, email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM (subject: Diesel). Five winners will be chosen and asked for their addresses.

Does having a ticket guarantee admission?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 3:19 PM
the tickets say non=transferrable on them, but i have no idea how they could possibly check that.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 3:31 PM
Ticket most likely does guarantee admission, sucks though all the locations are out and I haven't gotten one yet. Work on Friday so I wont be able to wait for one.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 3:48 PM
How much do they cost?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 3:49 PM
They were free, now people trying to charge 200 a piece on ebay, pretty crazy, 3rd post was mine too. I been reading this blog for like I would say 5 years haha and this is the first contest I have entered of BV's. I hope I get a pair.

Prediction: None of the tickets alloted to the stores will be available. Ever.
This is NYC -- if there's something for free, way too many people will want to show up. And only those with connections will be able to attend.
But Diesel will get some hype from it.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 3:55 PM
their clothes are ok. some stuff is cool. too pricey though. wish i could go to party
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:04 PM
Gimme dem tickets!
Posted by Fatty McCock | October 7, 2008 4:05 PM
that is what sucks about nyc. whenever there is a free event people gobble up tickets. it doesn't matter what it is for...it is the same sort of thing that ruined some of the free summer shows. too many people to the point where fans of the music cannot even get it. also it horrible that people are selling free tickets on craigslist and ebay. it is worst than the sonic youth scalping for the july 4th show.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:06 PM
well, sonic youth on the 4th was an amazing show.
i doubt this will be.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:07 PM
dear 4:06,
boo hoo. cry me a river. the east river.
best,
jan janson
Posted by jan janson | October 7, 2008 4:09 PM
i agree the sonic youth show was great, but it was easier to get the free tickets online and what have you. this show will be fun, not amazing, but fun and it is becoming a pain in the ass to get tickets.

Three words: Hipster kayak invasion?
Posted by chuckm | October 7, 2008 4:11 PM
i need a pair and can get you +1 into the smirnoff show with N.E.R.D, Nas, Dizzee tonight...
Posted by mmmm | October 7, 2008 4:11 PM
I agree with what everyone is saying. Def sucks, but what are you gonna do, we live in an amazing city and we get to see a lot more musically/cultural wise than a state in the middle of the country. Sooooo many people on these little plots of land, and lots of demand. Really makes me sick people trying to profit of this type of thing, I bet even store workers horded them. They are probably the ones selling. That being said, I would have lined up for tickets on Friday if I could call out sick from work or skip school or however people make it to these weekday gatherings.

welcome to the real world

Onward, hipster billboards, marching as to bore,
With the irony of neon going on before.
Ego, the hipster Shephard, leads against the self;
Forward into battle see His minions melt!

There are 'golden tickets' in some issues of vice apparently
some issues just have a flier for the party, and some have the ticket. its stuck onto the page with the diesel ad
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:37 PM
^
nerd. not the band thats playing the show--- got my tickets
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:40 PM
is vice wrapped? if not, i'm about to head to the newsstand...
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:42 PM
diesel jeans are crap. good of them to give a free show though.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:47 PM
vice is wrapped
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:52 PM
Say what you want about the company, but Diesel jeans are some of the best money can buy. They're practically indestructible, don't hate just cuz you can't afford them.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:53 PM
There are no tickets available at any of the locations posted by Vice. :(
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 4:56 PM
im expecting them to release more tickets. why else would they have this on their site?:
"To be notified of more tickets to be released and lineup additions, please enter your email here:"
also....lineup additions? anyone have any ideas? justice?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 5:03 PM
This line-up is a fkkn waste. Tools.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 5:05 PM
Pick me BV!
Posted by Beeeeeve | October 7, 2008 5:05 PM
Special Guest will be Radiohead
I talked to Jonny last night in Japan
MIA and Thom collaboration??? I know Thom loves MIA.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 5:19 PM
To 5:03:
Why would they have the "enter email" request on their site? Only to add you to their junk mail list.
They have no intention or reason to notify you if they release more tickets. They really don't even like you or respect you.
Brooklyn Vegan is probably doing the same thing. By giving away a few tickets, BV collects the email addresses of hundreds of demographically desirable, hipster 18-to-34-year-olds with an enviable amount of disposable income. Marketing gold.

ebay auction for a ticket:

$75 for 1 ticket????
lameeeeeeee
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 5:43 PM
Does anyone still think CMJ is a college music journal when Diesel is sponsoring MIA? This might as well be the MTV Warner Electra Atlantic showcase for the masses.

To: 5:22pm
And if more tickets actually are released, will you stand up and admit you were wrong about the tickets?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 6:18 PM
Can't you see the big point and click for Diesel on the top of the page.
How much do you get per click for the Diesel ad BV?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 7:28 PM
btw, the ticket explicitely state this party is 21+ over. Looks like theyll free tequila.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 7:29 PM
I know that everyone on here is anti-marketing, anti-magazine, anti-sponsored events, anti-denim, and anti-fun, but this has been pretty effective at building hype.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2008 11:43 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2008 8:16 AM
8:06AM - Er, they are releasing more tickets though, at the Diesel stores tomorrow. That's what the email said, and it's even on this site...
It's been fun!

i'm sure everyone who doesn't get tix to the show will just run out and buy diesel.
4:53
wait, you can't hate shit because you can't afford it? are you kidding? OF COURSE YOU CAN!
Can we at least snicker at $200 jeans?
Posted by Anonymal | October 9, 2008 12:44 PM
12:44pm
Dude, relax. It's called marketing. Welcome to 2008. It's a free event. It's a promotion for some $50 jeans.
No one is being brainwashed into running out and buying Diesel.
Snicker all you want, the rest of us will be having a blast at the party, and if Diesel has jeans I like, I'll buy them, if they don't, I won't.
It's a pretty simple concept. But wow did it get you worked up!
Have a good weekend.
Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2008 2:56 PM
I personally think it's pretty fucking cool that Diesel would throw a huge event featuring great music and distribute free tickets to fans to mark its 30th anniversary. I mean, can you really fault Diesel for distributing tickets at 5 little independent music shops throughout NYC, thereby giving those stores business/publicity? I think if anything, it's a very classy move.
Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2008 3:06 PM
2:56 PM
You used the word "dude."
Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2008 8:08 AM
i have 3 tckts. sucks to be you guys.
Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2008 11:14 AM
good luck getting in. if the line just at the store is any indication of what the show is going to be like, you guys are fucked, tickets or not.

i am also under 21, do you guys think they would let me in, even if i swear on the bible i wont drink a drop of some amazing liquor?????
guys please, i have been literally feelling shitty about not being able to make it pass door!
Do you guys think i should just go down to brooklyn and give it a try, or just dont bother, stay home, and keep my precious tickets as a reminder of the party i couldnt attend!?
i hate the US... you guys can vote, get arrested, Get charged with shit and being given "ADULT" time in prisson, go shoot people @ war, get married legally... but have NO BOOZE?
I HATE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!
SO? stay home, or pier 3?
You guys, what if I got my tickets from someone @ diesel corp!?? do you think I should do some name dropping like
"hey, so and so sent me the tickets dude, SOOO so and so said I could come in... so and so is the manager of such and such department @ corporate...
IF you want just call SO AND SO and you'll see im not lying!"
good idea? nah?
iff this shit doesnt work i'll be @ doors selling this c*nt tickets for 6 dollars (hey, make it worth the subway!)
Posted by paranoid | October 11, 2008 8:01 AM
You won't get in. It's a liability. also the people working the door will be a hired company, not Diesel, if you start name dropping they will most likely be more dicks, probably laugh at you. Honestly, if you don't have an ID, I would not bother, unless you have a ton of free time to stand around. I guess if you gonna be there anyway give it a shot, but it's like very very doubtful.
Posted by Anonymous | October 11, 2008 8:13 AM
your nuts, you can totally sell them off for $100 ...easy.
Posted by E | October 11, 2008 8:13 AM
Anyone know what subway stop is closest? How the hell do I get to pier 3?
Posted by Anonymous | October 11, 2008 2:47 PM
i turn 21 in four days...think they'll turn me away?
