Saturday night (September 27th), Marnie Stern (solo), Neptune and recent Dead Oceans signees These Are Powers played a show at Silent Barn. TAP and Neptune also played one together one day later at Knitting Factory. Marnie Stern has a new album coming out on Kill Rock Stars and has another NYC show coming up in October before going out on tour with Gang Gang Dance. More info and MP3s and stuff, HERE. these are powers absolutely fucking slayed at this show. the new songs are fantastic.

Screaming Females from New Brunswick, NJ also played. They opened the show and were great as always with Marissa's screams and the rockin' jams. The show was fantastic. Neptune were interesting, I hadn't really heard music like that before. I liked These are Powers, but I wasn't into the vocals and couldn't hear her to well. The little I heard from Marnie Stern was good.

Ah! yeah SF were first. I would've liked to see photos from them. But, the ones you got of the other bands are pretty good. I liked the These are Powers shots best. You caught some great expressions and gestures.
